You can bet most of those customer's service lines are underground.
That Didn’t seem to matter with this storm. My mom and aunts are all underground and still lost power. We had massive trees down everywhere in the Orlando area.

i don't know how anyone in La. can defend this state's response to hurricanes.

When you are driving along 10 in the Florida panhandle... somewhere (I think it's east of Tallahassee) there is a massive electric line infrastructure just on the north side of the interstate.
It looks like it can withstand 200 mph winds.
If the rest of the state has that kind of infrastucture, I can see where the damage wasn't as catastrophic and they can get the lines back up earlier.
They (like Entergy I will say) do a good job of massing crews who can work in the neighborhoods.
Where LA struggles is the major infrastrucure is crap and takes longer to rebuild.
Where as it seems the most of the damage in FL is running new lines and flipping breakers.

Did Entergy start doing it or start talking about it? They have been allowed to kick the can down the road too long. The infrastructure here is antiquated to say the least.
Committed to Wall Street they're going to spend $16 billion (with a B) over the next 10 years. It's already started.

Not gonna lie, old Ron is picking up some big cred for the way this thing is getting handled.
Ron has been popular with the working middle class here in Fl for along time. The Dems haven't even wasted their time campaigning in NE Fl for the Nov. Governor race.

Twitter is trying to shite on Ron for not evacuating something that wasn't even in the cone until the last minute. Insanity.

For Ida, new orleans didn't take as big of a hit at all. The big damage reached into Kenner and there was a big drop off from there. Reserve/Laplace and the river parishes took massive hits compared to areas in New orleans like uptown.

It would be ideal if S. LA could get our power underground or at least on metal poles instead of those sad arse wooden poles that always fall over. We have to entergy accountable.

Stories like this are why we want to stay here rather than move back to our house in North Carolina.

More people died at a soccer match over the weekend than due to Ian. But climate change.
So you think all bodies have been accounted for in this hurricane and it is less than 125. Or do you know this because I think you are a horrible person and it is way to fricking early to be making jokes about dead people and missing people.

Florida started a huge storm resiliency push about 15 years ago. Spent a ton of money on infrastructure hardening so restoration would be faster. Entergy just started doing that this year.
It started after Frances, charley and Jeanne in 2004 then Wilma unexpectedly wrecking shite in 2005. Buried lines, bolstered poles and shite like that. Also every gas station now has back up generators so they stay up and running.

There's a whole lot more to that than you realize.
Starting with the bit about not being in "the cone" until the last minute.

It started after Homestead got wiped off the map by Andrew.
