Just saw Jerry Cantrell band (not AIC) at LTL. Played Rooster and a couple other tunes. Solid set

I'm 43 now, just got heavy into AIC a year ago. Can't believe I missed this during the 90s. Also missed Tool (my #1 band and took my 10yr old son to 2 Tool concerts this year).
Layne and Scott are two of the best in grunge era by far!

Baton Rouge cover band Paleface, led by guitarist Joe Batson, played killer versions of these tunes at Papa Joe’s for a good bit after the album’s release. They got me into grunge by playing lots from this record and some from STP.

A flat out masterpiece
Amen!!
It also takes conveying subject matter to a whole next level. I’ve always felt like the album just drips with heroin. It’s like a heroin abuser’s soundtrack.
“You can't understand a user's mind
But try with your books and degrees
If you let yourself go and opened your mind
I'll bet you'd be doing like me
And it ain't so bad“
The music and lyrics combined with Layne’s voice and style somehow manage to romanticize it all and make it almost seem tempting.

I had no idea they released a vinyl of that back then. I remember the green wrapping on the CD case.

A lot of mid 90s records are like that, I've given some ridiculous amounts for records in that era.
Eta
I had the cassette when this came out, sometimes id buy a cassette because it forced me to listen to every song. I know that there were some albums from back then, if I would have had on CD I wouldn't appreciate today.

Oddly enough: same age. I was fortunate enough to enjoy AIC in their glory. Flip side, I really got into TOOL (which is now my favorite band) right before the 10,000 Days release--so around 2005. AIC's songs were like hearing someone speaking to you in full honesty about how life is fouled up. Now knowing Layne's addiction issues it makes the songs all the more haunting.

I have never been a Nirvana fan (yeah, I said it)
I mean I still kind of like Nirvana, but I completely completely agree.

I can listen to the Unplugged of Nirvana. Talk about a show that should have stayed on the docket for MTV but, as far as I know, went away for some reason. AIC's unplugged was one of the best ever. The version of "Nutshell" on Unplugged was a masterpiece...they opened with that song. I miss Unplugged.

Agreed with everything you said. Unplugged was awesome. MTV wouldn't be as big a joke if it still played you know, more music.
Yeah Nirvana on Unplugged was great but AIC on there was a whole different level.
