So a buddy got a lovely choice of going to Minot or Barksdale from MacDill.

At first I was like no way in hell I would move to Shreveport but then I looked up Minot... And now I see why he would want to go to Shreveport

What does the good ole Louisiana folks say. I'm going to send him this thread.

I will almost always choose the non-Louisiana option for any question

The only difference may be weather.

Does he like snowmobiles and ice fishing? If not, ND blows pretty hard on fun factors for much of the year.

Not even a choice. Barksdale all day every day. Minot is terrible. BAFB also has Global Strike Command so there are some good promotion opportunities.

Who the hell did he piss off?

How long is this stop?

Id pick shreveport if he will be there a while. Id pick Minot if he'll just be there for hunting season. I think one north dakota winter would be one to much though.

Most of the OT (myself included) likes to hate on Louisiana, but it depends on what your buddy wants. Does he want to be in the middle of nowhere? North Dakota. Does he want some semblance of civilization? Shreveport/Bossier.

I’ve known several people stationed at both, and they all said Barksdale by a lot.

Damn, that's payback for duty in Tampa. I loved being stationed at MacDill. I guess I'd choose Shreveport? But that's only because of the weather. They both suck.

My FIL was in a similar situation and went with Barksdale AFB in Bossier over moving the family to Minot. At least SBC is not far from Dallas - Minot isn't close to anything.

I live in Williston, ND, Shreveport all day. The winters are brutal up here.

For example, this morning it was 41 degrees. 3 months of below zero temps on the way
