To be lazy to the point of getting fired by some a-hole that fires his own kid for doing exactly what she was taught?
Great lesson, champ.
She will remember this lesson. Thinking I would teach my kid to be lazy is just a foolish notion. Why would anyone do that? It's like teaching your kid to be a gang member

Not anti-work at all but I also don’t get in line to sniff CEO jockstraps like a lot here
It's less about siding with CEOs and companies and more about being realistic about at will employment. Of course the company doesn't care about you...never have. And of course you don't care about the company, never have either.
The deal is on Reddit, they don't live in reality because they either don't have jobs yet or they live with their parents. They want a utopia which has never existed and won't and they don't even understand how jobs work or how a company exists in the first place. It's how this whole McDonald's need to pay a living wage garbage started too.

You don't have any leverage though. The company is mine. It belongs to me.
I think you don't understand leverage.
It seems like you have leverage when there's a workforce desperate for any sort of work.
Companies that have actual leverage are companies like Nike, Disney, Exxon, Sports Franchises, Big Law Firms, where even highly paid executives will jump ship for a brand.
Mike's frick All Lathe and Plaster has no leverage.
If you're the only employer in town, but I don't care if I work or not because I have confidence that I'm smarter than you, you have no leverage.

The leverage they have is that they can leave. When they ask for more money and leave when it’s not provided, do you whine about their lack of “loyalty”?
No I go hire their replacements

You're the one that said she learned exactly what you taught her.

Who then leave too because their CEO is a doofus.

Where the actual frick do these people think money will come from? The magic money fairy?
The rich will pay more taxes and then the government will provide a universal basic income. The fact that the businesses owned by the rich will no longer have workers is of no concern.

If you can't keep or attract employees at the pay you're offering, then you do not have leverage. You have a failing business model.
Good luck.

a lot of businesses are struggling with this right now
or if they do, turnover is extremely high

If you have low turnover and no problem finding replacements when people leave, you’re probably fine. If you have high turnover and/or “staffing issues”, you should probably re-examine your MO.

You do realize that people can learn something and then choose not to implement it correct? Tell me you understand that concept. It's like being taught not to cut the pressurized pipe but then thinking "It's quicker to just cut the pressurized pipe. A lesson will be learned and it's going to sting

It’s a big trend right now along with absurd minimum wage valuations and unionizing businesses that have been traditionally not unionized
I see why these people want it - it’s all people stuck permanently in low wage jobs with no hope of advancement. Living poor. I get it’s a shitty situation, but it’s mostly their own doing and they lack the drive to pull themselves out

Giving a salary, benefits including health care, retirement and PTO is doing the absolute minimum? Maybe people’s worth and value is greatly overestimated.

You're changing your statement now.

It's not like that at all. Words have meanings.

I don't have staffing issues at all. I never said I did. I pay well and give bonuses based on profits. That is what gives me leverage.
