My wife signed up for Hello Fresh and with discount codes our first order was only ten bucks for three meals for two. Our next order will be $50. The portion sizes aren’t huge but one meal we tried was pretty good and easy to prepare. Was also impressed with how everything was packaged. I think it is a fairly decent value as well and it’s fun getting the box each week.

If you do it, I would recommend supplementing it with extra protein from the store.

It's nice not to have to get all the different ingredients for the meal, but they don't include enough protein IMO. It makes a nice leftover for lunch the next day.

We did it for a month or two. It is nice if you are feeding 2 mouths that are not finicky eaters. It turns into a complicated problem when you have young kids. Do you order the expensive option of 4 servings and risk them not eating it? Or do you order the two servings and feed the kids cereal?

The food quality itself was very good.

I have known quite a few friends who did it, but they all eventually stopped after a few months. Plans would change, so they would sometimes have the foods go bad before they could cook them.

We did Hello Fresh for a few months but quit once we had a kid, it’s a good change of pace from our normal rotation when you can’t quite think of something different. We kept the recipes for the ones we like and still make them occasionally. Off the top of my head we still make some of the Mediterranean dishes, the black bean enchiladas(we add chicken), and they have a zucchini and squash flatbread/pizza with a lemon ricotta cheese base that we still make regularly.

In my limited experience with them, the portions tend to be small and the meals are pretty simple and straightforward, which isnt a bad thing.

The cons are that you have all these meals set for the week and plenty of times I end up not wanting to eat whatever it is. Ended up just cooking it as a leftover, eating what I dont want, or just wasting it. Speaking of wasting, I am not at all a omg I have to save the world, but holy shite they waste some plastic and materials with these things. Every ingredient is pretty much in its own packaging and the amount of trash after youre done with the box is absurd.

Individually these things are a fad

My wife and I like doing it when we get bored with our regular menu.

We turn it off when we get tired of it. We'll enable it for a month or so, cancel it for 3 months etc.

The food is generally pretty good. Some if it has a lot more calories that I typically want for dinner though.

My family likes HelloFresh. We do it 2-3 times a week when there are meal choices we like. If there aren’t at least 2 meals we like we won’t order that week. We do the burgers, tacos, rice bowls, and some of the pastas. It has gotten my picky 14 year old to try new flavors and it’s easy.

It’s a fun date night. Our menu had gotten a little stale and we had a bunch of fun cooking new meals together

We do Martha and Marley 3 times a week. It gives us flexibility for eating out or dinner with friends. It is nice to have 3 meals figured out for the week.

Did Home Chef for probably a year. It was good in that we fixed things we wouldn't normally fix. We still use a lot of the recipes.

My family has done Blue Apron and Hello Fresh for a while. We stopped Blue Apron because my finicky kid just wouldn't eat it or did and hated it. Supper is his only decent meal of any school day.

Started Hello Fresh much later after my wife died and found a family friendly menu. This was a huge help as a single dad dealing with work, hobbies and raising a 12 year old boy. Enter the new lady who loves to cook and is off a lot during the week. Even at two meals per week, some would have to be thrown out for one reason or another, and the meals were for two. To make it work, I would have had to switch to 4 person. While I do miss it because it exposes me to things I would never otherwise cook, the two of us just cook too much from the grocery for this to work well.

And as far as the learning to cook thing goes, I have actually learned a lot from these things and incorporate the lessons into my daily cooking.

I do Blue Apron and think the ingredients are top notch. We got one bad box before and they applied the credit so we got the next box for free.

We were doing Hello Fresh for a while and still occasionally. I agree with Kosmo about purchasing more protein to add to the meals.

Most meals have most always tasted great and have tried things like Couscous and other meal selections that are not part of my southern plains food culture.

I started doing it in April because I got a really good intro price. We still do it a couple weeks a month because it is convenient and we like the meals pretty well. I have always cooked a lot, but this has introduced some different things to our weekly menus and is so mindlessly easy. Grab the bag and follow the instructions. I make a point to follow the directions exactly and have been impressed by how well it all comes together timely. It also helps with portion control. I do not supplement at all and we always have enough. We have tried HF, EveryPlate, and Marley Spoon. Marley Spoon was a little more upscale but more expensive and doesnt offer good discounts. EveryPlate is literally budget HelloFresh, but is fine. I will deactivate and then they drag me back in with big discounts, so now I refuse to pay more than $25 a week for it, and have no problem keeping it at that price point.
