This is exactly what you get trying to be cheap and not doing a national search.

I never understood the hire at all. They could have landed a much better coach after what Napier did.

Well hes more paw paw if we're being honest.

I don't think they could have afforded the 2.5 mil or whatever they were paying Napier after covid.

That's great. He can show up for alumni night.
But we had a golden opportunity to be a premier launch pad for coaches to major football universities and squandered it.

They went bargain bin shopping for a head coach and made the emotional former QB hire. Now has destroyed everything Billy Napier built. Horrible.

Yep. They were definitely in a position to attract someone to that spot.
The talent level in the south is huge where even the scrubs leftover after the SEC picks it clean is still more than enough to build a 2000s Boise or TCU-esque team once you have the foundation and reputation.
Reminds me of Tulane going with Scelfo after Bowden left (tho at least Tulane had a decent coach in house they could have gone with instead)

They could have paid a better coach a little less.
Desormeaux was a lazy hire. He has only ever worked at ULL.

I can't find the post I made a few months ago but I shite all over this hire, said I expected a losing record this season, that he'd ruin what Napier built and be fired in a few seasons.
Napier set us up to be a place an up and Comer could launch his career to higher level success. There should have been plenty of interest in this job. Instead we hired "one of us" who's only ever coached at UL so he has no network connections to reach out and build a staff. Just such a USL hire.

Instead of a national search, they did a parish wide search

They didn't even bother to check the new Iberia sonics

Wonder if the gator and Cajun fans are still best buds

Cajun fans went 0-2 today
They won 7 games by a score or less last year with better talent
The football gods will eventually even that out

I think I remember reading it.
Desormeaux never showed he can be a head coach in FBS. At all.
