No one can win at UL without cheating like Sunbelt Billy did. Enjoy your mediocrity for decades to come.

mean they got Napier in the first place. I laugh at LSU fans falling for his O bullshite, but hat was a huge get for ULL. Completely gutted ASU's plan with Edwards (where Napier was going to be the real HC in terms of football). I don't see why (other than money) ULL couldn't be attractive to another up and coming OC
He was the OC Grahams last year.
There was no way he was going to be on Edwards staff

It didn’t help that Fla and lsu took some pretty big transfers that are all contributing in sec

The talent level in the south is huge where even the scrubs leftover after the SEC picks it clean is still more than enough to build a 2000s Boise or TCU-esque team once you have the foundation and reputation.

Guidry's D has issues in Viator's final year but it was good the year prior.
The only issue we had in Viator's final year was the NCAA selection committee pairings and yet again sucking in the playoffs...
shite, the most points we gave up in a single game that year before the playoff rematch with Sam was 27 to Northwestern. And all 3 TDs that NSU scored in that game were on a KO return, a long run, and long pass.
Not gonna lie, at the time, I was glad to see Viator go because his seasons always had the same results: high expectations, with the end result being (at best) a first round exit in the playoffs.
Looking back now, that wasn't so bad.

If anyone ever asks why a true Cajun fan hates LSU, this is why.
If any ULM poster comes in talking shite, that's fine. I'd expect it. But if you have an LSU icon next to your name, kindly piss off.
I mean you are the flagship university. Right? Why do you care what the peons below you do?
But nah, not LSU faithful. Always looking to beat anyone beneath them that even attempts to steal a glimmer out their diamond.

Mickey Joseph says hello. That was the hire that should have been made.

They can’t stand us because true Cajun fans don’t kiss their arse like most other schools in this state and we actually can hold our own especially when you look at the athletic budgets. It’s typical, we don’t get the bandwagon types, but I would rather build something up than just ride an already full train, but that’s not most people especially in this state.
That is what is most frustrating about this coaching hire and this loss. UL really was building something in football. Two consecutive ranked seasons and now this crap. Congrats on regaining your throne after a two year hiatus as the top ranked program in the state Tiger fans.

What exactly do you mean by, "hold our own?"

Let’s compare athletic budgets and you will see what I mean. I’d say we do pretty good for what we have. Kept this state on the radar the past couple seasons. No other program outside of LSU in this state has had consecutive top 25 ranked seasons. We can talk about academics as well if you like. Point is we are holding our own with our minuscule budget and alumni support in comparison.
This loss is a huge setback, with all the losses post-Napier a .500ish season was expected but no reason we should be looking this bad. Killed all the momentum we had built up, but hey at least we can say Saban lost to Monroe in year one as well, unfortunately Desormeaux is no Saban. Pile on the hate though, I would expect nothing less here.

So what cheating occurred?
Keep in mind your team of choice is in the SEC, where players have been bought for decades.

The answer was clearly rob sale. Dumb move by not hiring him
Don’t disagree with the first statement; however, I doubt there was money available to persuade him to come back to Lafayette rather than be an SEC OC.
He’d have to want to be a head coach really bad, especially since being a really good P5 coordinator can also land one a P5 head coaching job, just like being a really good G5 head coach can.

Which puts it higher than all the public schools in the state besides LSU and Tech.

Yeah no shite. ULL has a talent problem more than anything else right now.

Well it’s kind of a big deal that this past year we became only the 3rd Louisiana college to attain Carnegie Classification as a R1 (tier 1) research institution joining LSU & Tulane. Tech would trade their US News ranking for that.
A bit more important than our consecutive top 25 seasons as well.
