I genuinely don’t think we will, but I’m also a negative bitch when it comes to teams I care about.

That was a depressing performance. Send someone home and call in Pefok for the next game.

I don't understand why Gregg feels we have to be Barcelona

Yes our talent is better than before but USA historically grinds out results by being physical, well-conditioned, solid defensively and at keep while taking advantage of good positioning and set pieces when opportunity strikes.

Sure we can boss the midfield better than before but some games don't call for that. He seems unable to adjust his tactics for individual games.

Our strikers barely touched the ball. Outside of the Ferrara chance, there was nothing in that game that made me think Pefok would have changed anything. All 5 guys that played in the midfield were terrible today, couldn't get the ball to our wingers or strikers. Vines was potentially the best defender on the day, but thats due to the rest being garbage.
Its hard for Aaronson or Reyna to have an impact when they can't rely on a solid pass from their teammates.

I think you’re joking, but we at least have a couple decent options at each wing position when healthy.

So what did we learn?

We're missing CP, Weah, Musah, Richards.

Long and Morris have no business being here.

Ream and Pefok should be there.

Good to see Luca and Reyna get minutes.

Our attacking third has no chemistry.

Ferreira failure to finish was the prime example of why he shouldn't be starting. I don't care about what he's done in the MLS bs at this point. International play is inherently different.

Feel free to add...

To be fair to you, it’s not like your teams historically have given you any confidence. I could relate for the most part until about 9 months ago.

I thought LDLT looked really bad today. But so did Adams and McKennie. Just a disaster in midfield which is an area we should be better in.

He wasn't great, but no one was. But I also have confidence that he can only help us, and is not known for losing the ball in the back.

I was concerned de la Torre would look bad because he isn’t playing much at Celta Vigo.

I didn’t watch the game but it seems like the two best things are that Turner played well (not surprising as he is our best keeper) and no one got hurt.

Ferreira was invisible and missed a sitter. Reyna needed to be involved and we couldn't get him the ball. One time Ferriera had a ball drop to his feet. Instead of playing Reyna in, he turned back to the middle into 2 defenders and we played it all the way back to the keeper. I'll take my chances with Sargent.

Weston was bad. 3 or 4 horrible give aways. One which lead to the first goal. WTF were we doing with Vines? We didn't win a second ball all game. Trying to play out of the back won't work with that squad. Especially when Weston can't link together a pass.

I know Reyna is on a minute count but I would love to see him as the middle guy in a 4-2-3-1. Especially with Musah out. We just don't have anyone to make things happen offensively. There is no creativity.

I need to see Weston next game, but if he plays like that he can’t start for us.

He probably would have finished that opportunity that Ferreira wasted. Regardless he should have been called up originally. He deserves a chance more than any other 9.

“In the four World Cup qualification matches in which the U.S. had
under 50% possession, they averaged 2.5 points and 2.8 goals scored per match;
in 10 matches over 50%, they averaged 1.5 points and 1.0 goals.”

The possession game has not worked even against CONCACAF. How did we get to this point thinking it was the end all be all?

Everyone calling into grumpy pundits is just saying why are we trying to be Barcelona, there is no plan B, why are there no adjustments

Our country that's stupid about soccer seems to know more than our MNT coach

I agree and actually think him not being in this camp helps his chances to be at the WC as our system definitely didn't work again today. We will need the ability to hoof balls up to a target man at some point.

I think he has already secured a spot and the 3 strikers here are fighting for the other 2 spots. Maybe that is just wishful thinking.

I think GGG has already made up his mind that Pefok isn't going to be on this team because he doesn't "fit the system".
