What is going on with Auburn Softball?

4 players have already transferred (3 to other SEC schools and 1 to Clemson. And, there are still 2 in the portal

I saw Arkansas landed gasso’s son as hitting coach, while we fill an open position with a bbq buddy. God forbid Beth Torina hires someone outside her network:

They hired the other son (not JT at OU).

Torina may fall short and changes may have to be made ultimately but Bryce IMO was a very good hire and he is young rising star in coaching world when it comes to hitting despite a relatively small ncaa coaching career. He turned down quite a few P5 schools this off-season before deciding to come here. His work at Louisville is undeniable, not a coincidence they started hitting the ball well when he got there. He worked previously with a lot as a hitting instructor for many professional athletes and college kids and was mentored under some really good coaches over the years. This was a hire made about getting the offense over the hump.

But with that said they got to develop Chaffin and continue to build on with Berzon. We gave up 16 runs in our two losses to the Cajuns in the regional. We lost Kilponen and Johnson transferred. Lynch is a solid addition but depth will be more limited this year. That may end up deciding the season. After next season, we basically lose almost our entire hitting lineup to graduation and have to rebuild a bit with OU and Texas joining the SEC

As someone that just spent 10 days in Colorado at one of the largest tournaments in the country and saw this one plus several other LSU recruits in person.....idk what you think this kid is, but she isn't it.

She's not a front of the rotation ace. She's a piece, but she isn't what she's hyped up to be.

Idk how good or not good she will be when she hits campus.

I've seen countless 'top' recruits everyone pegs as the next up and coming star only to flame out and not come close to expectations when they hit the collegiate level. I've seen others not rated nearly as high go on to be program changing recruits. And this isn't just a LSU issue, I've seen OU, Washington, Florida sign these type of recruits and some of them just aren't what their recruiting hype is. Happens to everyone but softball recruiting evaluations/rankings aren't nearly as reliable as football/basketball due to lack of overall coverage and true assessment of these kids across multiple levels from HS/Travel ball. But this goes back to the important of true assessment of talent and how it will translate at the next level, along with proper development (another huge piece).

Time will tell, she is talented but we will see in a couple short years how good she will be at the college level.

Berzon was ranked lower than Alea and Strood coming into LSU and she was far and away on another level than the rest.

She’s had some Paul Skenes type K/BB numbers with a .07 ERA last year in HS. I think it’s reasonable to have some high expectations for her, but it’s interesting that she didn’t stand out in that event. Not sure what her comp is in high school.

Thanks for sharing. So I guess its the coach's fault, not the players. He couldn't do what he had to do to keep his team in one piece. THEY HAVE STARTERS LEAVING

Speaking on Heavener, I’m gonna have to disagree with you. I don’t know what game you watched but she shut down every team she faced and they won it all. She is incredible!!!
They have another blonde lefty that is 2025. Maybe that is the one you saw. Heavener is legit!

She had 22 IP, 6 H, 41 K and a 0.96 ERA and, like you said, her team won the title. For good measure, she batted .529 with 3 HR and 10 RBI.

Also saw on social media where the kid took a line drive to the face and still came back same day to win the semifinal and had to close out the final. Kid has grit, I know that.

To that point, she like half of our 24 class are playing/competing within their peer group(17/16) and below(14,15 yr olds) in 16U division. Given her talent, expectations to have success amongst a consistently younger opponent are high as is in her high school circuit. Playing in 18U with her peers and older(17/18+) for next season's summer club ball will show a little closer window towards future(early) success at SEC level. The kid is extremely gifted, just wish they were playing the highest comp available for the undeniable development it yields. Would love to see her come in and put up numbers like Berzon first year.
