DeSantis has handled this all incredibly well. The guy looks like he’s ready to be president.

interesting to hear a stormchaser say after looking at what recon had found and what was going on now on the ground... the worst of the storm might be in the western eyewall instead of the northeast like normal

I know it's not recccomended to run a generator inside the house, but if you had to do for a little while what's the safest room?

The kitchen, so it will be on a tiled surface. But only run it as long as it takes you to microwave a 20lb turkey to eat off of for the next several days.

I am not sure, TBH. I know my previous HOI was with Gulfstream at 5% deductible as well. Gulfstream went bankrupt which went bankrupt after Sally, roughly 30 days prior to my renewal right before hurricane season in 2021. Since no other insurance co would touch me because I still had a pending claim, I got the wonderful Citizens experience, which I hope to move after litigation with FIGA gets resolved.

With respect to the 2%-5%, I honestly didn't know that 2% was an option or even want to see my premiums at 2%.

I hear ya. I had Gulfstream too and now have Southern Oak. Fortunately, I've been able to avoid the Citizens experience as a policyholder.

Going to look like it did back in 2004 from Charlie. Sucks they have to go through this again. Can definitely relate with Katrina then Ida.

Not a big deal, just use the same room you fry your turkeys in.

She mentioned Bonita Springs in her post. That is just south of Fort Myers. It is close to where Ian made landfall.

Dude on TWC said he just spoke to someone in Bonita Springs and they got 10-12’ storm surge in that area. God, I hope she’s okay.

Let's see if he mans up and declines any FedGov help.

Palm trees have to be the strongest tree on the planet to sustain constant winds like that.

Well they’re pretty aerodynamic with no limbs and small canopies.

fixed it for you. You do not run a generator anywhere inside of your house.

Why? So they can just use that money to send Ukraine more aid? It's not going to go to any better use regardless.

I posted a twitter link a page or two back, look at my posts. It wasn't good if that's really where she is. She's likely without power and on the second floor of her home (if it has one).

Bonita Springs

Much worse. Not even comparable. Charley was fast and small with little storm surge. Ian is massive and slow with a massive storm surge.
