Latest GFS basically parks it off the coast of Tampa for 24 hours.

drops the Tampa surge.

Only to replace it with 35-45" of rain over a few days. Might actually be worse.

But on a larger scale aren’t hurricanes important for releasing built up heat? If we figure out how to slow one down what ripple effects might we cause?

We started getting hit with heavy rain a couple of hours ago; currently in a lull with more heavy rain expected around 1 a.m. ET. Tuesday & Wednesday will be complete washouts.

Miami Beach streets will be under water/flooded with the rain and the good ole King Tide.

As much as Tampa avoids surge flooding on this 00z GFS run, the 24 hour stall nearby causes a prolific amount of rain. Another of many possible scenarios still on the table

Checking in from North Port, Fl, which is south Sarasota county.

Love all the info in here, and I've told a few of my friends, family, and customers that this is THE place to get the best info on the hurricane.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who chips in to makes this place so informative and entertaining.

well, my nickname growing up was "stuntman", so that's not on the cards.

Just kidding. We've got a few generators, filled the boat up w/ gas in case I need more, and have tons of water and food.

Fingers crossed.

You have the boat out of the water and on the trailer I'm assuming?

Filthy hook on that cell. You don't normally see such clear defined rotation on tornadoes produced by hurricanes.
