Social Media has created a society of narcissists

Just saw this post:
And it reminded me of just how warped young Millennials and Gen Z are by growing up in an era of social media where their parents were too old to conceptualize SM during their brain growth era so they did it wrong, too, and warped a generation of Gen X into extreme narcissists, too.
The sad part is this is a LIGHT example of a typically poisoned mind.
The scary part is that I don't think you can really unwire narcissism, so how society moves on from here is going to be a roller coaster.

They’re teenagers, give them a break
You’re reading Reddit, maybe reevaluate yourself?

These people were already narcissists. This just gives them a platform.

did social media create it?
or were we always a society full of narcissists?

I know 40 year old dudes that think like this girl, sad times we live in.

Social media should be banned for those under 18.

While social media has its upsides, overall its societies online cesspool.
It really is.
It really is.

Everything is about clout now. Kids don't care about the good jobs and making money they want others to think they are successful.
Outfits are bought based on future Instagram posts. Kids coordinate the stupidest things. Then they all video chat and show what they got.
Then when you go on social media you have tons and tons of rich kids who's parents rent them mansions. So they can create content. It's crazy. Then the kids wants more junk because so and so was paid to say it was good.
I'm ready to become Roger and find me a cabin in Alaska. It's only going to get worse.

Social media is a cancer

There’s this Boomer I know. I thought of him as a kindly grandfather type until he got Facebook. Now, after seeing his constant posting and shirtless selfies, i can’t look at him the same. I guess he does look good for a 75-year-old, but still. Lost a lot of respect.

Additionally they are socially retarded because they have no experience interacting with humans. That is why we consider them snowflakes, they can't handle the real world and retreat right back into the fantasy world of likes and comments whenever they face a real challenge.

I’m so glad my wife doesn’t GAF about me posting about our anniversaries or bdays on Facebook. It’s so cringe.

Watching social media and "content" take hold of the older generations has also been just as interesting to watch.

American's are stupider because of social media. No one thinks for themselves, they just do what is popular online.

The opposite of narcissism is humility. The only way to obtain humility is recognizing that you are subject to a higher authority and the world revolves around that authority… not “your truth”. Also, while there is nothing wrong with recognizing your own value, it is imperative to understand that your value isn’t obtained solely through ourselves… it is granted by that higher authority.
People nowadays are programmed to believe that each one of us are our own “higher authority” and that creates an identity crises and strife within because we know in our core that we are inherently flawed. The only way people see to reconcile this while still clinging onto their narcissism is to have constant affirmation from others in order to maintain their delusion. They choose to do this instead of humbling themselves before the higher authority…. They do this both because it is easier than looking at themselves in the mirror and because it feeds their pride.
However, this is doomed to ultimately fail both in this life and the next. This narcissistic view makes for highly unstable people and when their delusion comes crashing around them, we see no limit to the depraved reactions both internally and then lashing out against the people and society that refuses to affirm their narcissism any further, or at least doesn’t affirm enough to allow them to overcompensate for their faults and failures.
Sadly, if these people do not at some point in their life come to the epiphany that they are wrong and humble themselves and subject themselves to the highest authority-recognizing their value is not intrinsic in themselves, but granted by the love of that authority for them-that they will not only live their entire life at war with their own pride, but also pay the ultimate price in eternity.

The narcicism was always inside us. Social media has just enabled us to let it out.
