LSU could solve a lot of Baton Rouge's problems, if it's leaders had the political will.

LSU should've been flexing it's economic and political muscles decades ago to get the area around campus redeveloped, or even straight-up bulldozed.

LSU has spent hundreds of millions of dollars building and expanding. They should have taken in all of the shitty neighborhoods nearby.

They should be forcing the issue on crime in Baton Rouge. This directly affects enrollment, football attendance, etc.

The leadership of LSU - not just the chancellor, but the board - carry a lot of weight and influence in Baton Rouge.

The fact that there are not even mild criticisms of the local government, much less the scorched-earth lambasting they deserve, speaks volumes.

LSU, OLOL, BASF, Amedisys, Exxon, Shaw and other large organizations share responsibility for the shite hole that Baton Rouge has become.

There should be a DAILY onslaught of criticism from these companies and organizations.

The same is true for the big companies and organizations in New Orleans. If you are not openly against the status quo, then it should be assumed you are for it.

Need some deep pockets to start buying up the rundown rat holes around anywhere decent people want to be and chasing the ones who ruin everything they touch to other parts.

And get labeled as “hate speech” by the mob? The current social climate is that you either praise or say nothing at all.

This problem is not new and predates the current social climate by decades.

However, doing the right thing for your employees and customers isn't always easy.

Well, some portions of the population call this gentrification. So if you let it be, and decide to move away to better areas, that same portion calls it white flight.

What we really need is minority groups start being accountable for its own actions, and it’s leaders to advocate for a change in the current culture.

Who cares what it's called - there is a literal ghetto mere feet from LSU's campus.

This is prime real estate for development. LSU should've solved this problem decades ago.

I’m not disagreeing, but let’s not pretend there is common theme as to why BR is a shithole.

Nobody needs clues as to what it is.

The chancellor is not going to do anything to challenge his buddy the governor. SWB has no clue.

They want to rip up roads and highways because they are racist, that area is a lost cause the only way it would fix itself is if the people that live there do it, and they will never.

Enrollment is more than pure numbers.

How deep do they have to go down in the applications to fill that number?

The out-of-state students paying the full bill are who fund the university.

Scare them off and LSU is fricked.

Crazy talk.

LSU can’t just confiscate property. They can’t dominate and control pariah politics. There are no legal remedies that they can use to change their environment.

Btw, the people running LSU now are the same people that are running the state abd they are allied with our mayor and half of the council. What we have now is their doing. They aren’t about to call anyone out.
