Question about your college experience

Listening to a story last week on America's First News Radio regarding a study on 'regrets of college'. The polling questions were about 'If you could do it over again.....'
a. Would you go to college at all?
b. Would you go to the same college or a different one?
c. Would you have selected a different major?
Was curious to see how this board would answer the 3.

Looking back, I think I would have done better to go to one of the 2 year technical colleges and get to work sooner

a. Yes
b. Same
c. Different major - would have gone ChE instead of ME
I would have socked away my co/op earnings instead of having a good time on the beach

My experience was different as a scholarship athlete.
I'd still go.
I'd go to a bigger school if possible. More connections to industry.
I'd choose a slightly different major.
I loved college. But, many people really don't belong there. And, that's ok.

Yes I would still go to college although the wage gap is quickly closing with many blue collar trades.
I would go to a different college since I would not care to be in Nola these days would most likely choose LA Tech over UNO
I would go electrical engineering over the naval arch / marine degree I currently have.

a. I would have gone to college.
b. knowing what I know now, I would have enlisted in the Coast Guard and hopefully been stationed at a place where I could have started college part time.
c. I loved being a History major, but would not have had the maturity and self-discipline to do an accounting major at that point in my life.
All that being said, there would have been quite a bit I wouldn't have done...so at the end of the day, I guess I turned out alright...

A) I would still go
B) if I could redo everything I'd probably go to a better school
C) absolutely. I did business. Which is fine. But I'd probably rather have gotten a bit more specific.

I used GI bill as non traditional. Went to cc, then feeder university. School in general is a bunch of dumb shite, but I got the piece of paper that’s supposedly gold. It sits in my underwear drawer in a folder they sent it to me in. I did in class and graduated during pandemic.
Kids have education taken care of, they can make their decision like I did on what they want to do when it’s their time. I just want them to grow up as respectable members of society.

a. Would you go to college at all?
Yes, but that was because I made a promise to myself before joining the Army that I would finish up my degree because being an Aggie is something that meant a lot to me. Also, technically speaking, I had already been doing the work in the Army, but it is tough to get in the front door of many companies as a geospatial analyst without the degree, even with my experience doing the work in the Army.

No doubt I'd have gone to A&M, although as time goes on it is becoming less recognizable than I remember it. That said, my Dad and his Dad probably said the same thing

Absolutely not, it has opened a lot of doors, the pay is great, I enjoy what I do (although I miss working outdoors now that I'm stuck in an office) and its a field with a lot of varied applications. My degree was a BS in Geography, with minors in geoinformatics, & history. With a background in geospatial sciences, you can take your pick of industries. When I first left A&M I was working outdoors more as a GPS surveyor with my main job being migrating utility CAD drawings into a GIS. Then I worked for the VA doing site suitability analysis to figure out the best locations to build or contract care. Then I was back to DOD and now find myself at USGS.

went to community college, Nicholls, 1 year and LSU 3 years for bachelor. Loyola law school at night for 2 years while working full time
Chem E bachelor was a great life career start. Most of career spent in mgmt of facilities. Law school had some useful insite, but in general not worth the effort

a. Would you go to college at all?
Yeah.
b. Would you go to the same college or a different one?
Well, I eventually met my wife in Lafayette, so I wouldn't pass that up.
c. Would you have selected a different major?
100% PoliSci major intending to go into law school afterwards and decided 3/4 of the way through I really wasn't all that interested in being an attorney, so my degree turned out to be worthless.
And yet I still paid off my loans...
Yeah.
