I fly fairly regularly, but I hate every second of it. It absolutely terrifies me and I never feel like I'm not going to die. Even with booze, xanax, booze + xanax, I am still always nervous.

Have you ever thought about going up for a lesson or two at a local flight school? I’ve found that the more people understand about what’s happening (and how), the less they fear. That would absolutely be worth the cost if it calms those fears and makes flying more enjoyable for you.

Truly, we’ve got the best office in the world up there.

Chicago? On second look, Cleveland, with Detroit in background. Taken from east of Cleveland.

My guess was going to be either Chicago or Cleveland, but I couldn't quite figure out what that big metropolis in the upper right side was. I though maybe Milwaukee, but it seemed to be in the wrong spot.

Good eye!

Yep, taking orders now flying storms.

I was just in Biloxi at the sim last month.

I flew storms for a season, years ago. After logging a 13.2 hr flight storm off the Pacific coast of Mexico, landing back where I parked that morning, I knew it wasn't for me. After 13.2 hrs of flying, where you land, people should have funny accents, crazy looking money and fruity drinks.

I need to dig up some of my cockpit photos, but some of the coolest stuff I've seen airborne, was before the time of camera phones.

The thought of doing that makes my stomach turn. But you're probably right that if I faced my fears it would help. I flew with my grandfather in smaller planes when I was a kid and I was fine, but I didn't have the anxieties then that I do as an adult.

When I am flying, I hold it together externally. Internally, I'm Britney Spears when she shaved her head and attacked the paparazzi with an umbrella.

Kind of off topic but with pilots in this thread I thought I would ask. I've heard the FAA is looking at changing/loosening the weight requirements for GA that would make your typical cessna 152/172 considered light sport aircraft. I've always wanted to fly recreational but can't because I can't get a class 3 medical certificate for a PPL and there are zero flight schools around here (Baton Rouge) that have a light sport aircraft to train in or rent if I were to get my sports pilots license. If they made a 152/172 a LSA that would obviously change things for me and others who can't get a class 3 medical.

Have any of ya'll heard anything about the FAA going this route?

I’m taking a King Air across the pond and will be bouncing around Europe for a little over a month. I’ll see if I can grab some cool pics along the way. Iceland, Brussels, Prague, UK and Athens are some of the stops.

The Azores

That place is fascinating. To be so far out in the Atlantic and so small, but it's a thriving place. I can't believe there is a population of over 200k people living on those tiny islands.

One day before I bite the dust, I will catch a trophy Blue Marlin off the Azorean coast. That is the trip of my dreams.

Sick pics! Flying is the one thing that society looks at as totally normal but my brain can’t wrap my head around at how awesome it is.

Next time you're in St. Johns go get dinner in the underground part of the Yellow Belly(The underbelly). Speakeasy joint complete with bar staff in period dress. I would kill for their short rib with steamed veggies and their whiskey sour that they make with egg whites.

Sorry for just getting back to this, but I had to dig through some old pics. That spot was the first place I ate at on my very first visit to NL! You’re right, it’s incredible. I had the salt & vinegar fish & chips. I’ll have to try the whiskey sour next time.

Have you ever been to the Quidi Viddi brewery?

This is a picture from one of my pilot training classmates in the Air Force. Took a speck(white fronted goose for you non-baw types) right in the pitot tube of a T-1. Lost all pitot static indications on his side of the cockpit.

I’m told the airplane sat on the ramp in Monroe for a couple of months before it was flyable again.
