and the rampers had a hell of a BBQ

I worked that ramp throwing bags all through college before I went to UPT. Those rednecks wouldn’t waste their time with that bit of meat. Guarantee they had a side of hog in an ice chest in the back of a shitty F-150

you were already home, or near it, the birthplace of Delta!

ETA: I remember when they used to fly 727s in there and have annual BoDs meetings there

You’re hitting it at a great time. By the time you’re qualified, every regional airline in the country will be paying $90K+ to start. Roughly double what it was this time last year and more than double what I started at. Crazy times.
I decided I'd pursue it after a conversation with my best buddy (check airman jet blue) and grabbed my first 12 hours SEL in his 170. I have had my glider ticket since 2003. off and on currency. I figured if I worked a regional for a bit the travel bennies would be the real benefit. The money would be gravy added on top of a nice retirement. All in ! why not ? I'll have about 12 years of 121 time left when I retire from #1.

Haha, you better believe I used the hometown baw line in my interview. Guess it worked.

I am a Delta history nerd though.

first plane I flew on was a Delta 727, I always wanted to go there, had an uncle that retired as an L-1011 CA, I interviewed with them after I'd been here for about a year and would have left if they'd have offered right then, by the time they did I had about 2500 below me and was in striking distance of making CA

After logging a 13.2 hr flight storm off the Pacific coast of Mexico, landing back where I parked that morning

Did that twice this past week flying Kay off the Baja peninsula. Both 12+ hour sorties and my personal records for sortie length in the 130. It sucks.

Side note, one of your guys was my sim partner at J-MATS last year. Initials RK. Great dude.

Yes, we’re doing it wrong in that regard. It’s a government operation baw.

I brought a nice cold subway sandwich on both missions.

We can’t all be top 10% widebody Captains

jk, my nephew is a Navy C-130 puke(with us now,) he started in P-3s and did some flight test, they put a refueling probe on a P-3 and almost caused a mass retirement, everyone was saying "we can already fly x hours to get on station, x hours over station, have enough to get back and still have too much gas, frick staying in the air any longer!"

We have proprietary “Maximum Endurance” tanks. They’re a bit larger than the stock ER King Airs and we just hang on the blades a couple knots above stall speed all day.

They’re not great right now. Lots of oversold flights.

what are you doing? reccy stuff? or will you have to kill me if you tell me?
