Trying to keep that in mind. I study until I'm stupid though. I need the airline to beat the military out of me.

Maybe some sailors will chime in with views from the poop deck.

Very few will be as cool as these.

Some scary yes; some uncomfortable yes; cool not as much.

fricking meat servos... just try not to spill your coffee in the radio rack while you're taking pictures of Uranus.

Let me know when you're done fixing the plane and spending all your per diem on strippers. Got a cold beer waiting on you at the bar

excellent photos !! I'm in the middle of the commercial syllabus chasing the second career with the crazy aviation job market. Should be done shortly. CFI and other ratings after CPL while still working career #1. Plan is to retire from career #1 in 2 years, pick up career 2 flying commercially of some sort after I pick up the 1500 hours.

Herkflyer you by chance aren't flying with the Raiders out of Miramar are you ? Daughters (no pics) boyfriend is a loadmaster working on his crewmaster codes out of Miramar right now.

Negative, I'm a part timer in Biloxi

Keep plugging at those ratings though. It's a pilot's market for now.

You’re hitting it at a great time. By the time you’re qualified, every regional airline in the country will be paying $90K+ to start. Roughly double what it was this time last year and more than double what I started at. Crazy times.

Definitely one of the best threads in some time.

I live in the SE corner of the Vegas Valley. Often, inbound planes from the south and the west will fly past The Strip on initial approach before flying right over my house (by Black Mountain, for those who know the area) then turning back to make their final approach. It gives one the opportunity for great views of The Strip from the air.

The USAF Thunderbirds often do practice runs all over the area skies.

If you flew over The Strip in 1964 on approach, here's what you saw.

I wish I could post pictures. I have a pretty cool picture of the SE corner of the Vegas Valley from one of the times flying to Vegas. It was clear skies and the plane started dropping preparing to land. It was in the morning, I want to say in the 7AM hour.

Also, I have a few really good pictures taken from the Eiffel Tower replica at Paris, Paris and from highest point on the High Roller (which we went on at night) and its just an awesome site to see from the strip, beyond the strip.

Got quite a show early this morning. The moon was putting off some serious light, and we got some storms as the sun was getting ready to come up.

These next couple are over & off the shore of Louisiana:

This is New Orleans under cloud cover.

Nicely done. My views are mostly of sunsets and sunrises lately and as much as I’d like to capture them I suck at it. I have a few OK ones. This one was taken over the N. Atlantic.

This is the Grand Canyon

Someone spoke of bird strikes. Here is a pic from one of the many I’ve had. This is the radome (nose) of the aircraft after hitting a flock of geese going into Amsterdam. Right out of Looney Tunes! We took a few in the engine and a bunch on the wings too. Airplane flew out that afternoon.

I fly fairly regularly, but I hate every second of it. It absolutely terrifies me and I never feel like I'm not going to die. Even with booze, xanax, booze + xanax, I am still always nervous.

Your pictures actually make me feel a little better. Knowing that there's a pilot in the cockpit enjoying it that much makes me a little less uneasy?

My grandfather was a pilot and he would do a pretty good job of explaining it to me and calming me down. But he passed a few years ago so I can't talk to him about it anymore.

Side note: When we were cleaning out my grandparents' house, I found his aviation headset in a drawer and I have it hanging up in my office. He wasn't able to fly the last 10+ years of his life due to a medical issue. He missed it everyday.
