Just s you know the avg punt return yardage is about 6.5 yards per return. If you have a punt returned who is going to give you 10 per return, they'll cast his bust in Canton.

I'd have Jayden Daniels be the punt returner. He can be 65 yards down the field. He can start running when the ball bounces. So by the time he fields the punt rolling, he's going upfield at a speed of 21 mph and would know the angle of which to field the punt getting a good look at the defenders. His offensive line and running back can stand on the sidelines and do nothing just like during the game.

You've left out a critical piece of information-this "mistake" resulted in a loss of possession. Many,many coaches draw the line on a loss of possession-they simply will not tolerate it. A mistake is one thing-losing the ball is quite another.

Dumb. And it's not about hands, it's about swagger. PP and TM7 wanted the damn ball and to take it to the house and would catch a punt at full speed and keep going. Find the cockiest not-slow dude and put him back there. No room for head cases.

You should have the person on your team with the best hands field punts. Catching the ball and keeping it from hitting and bouncing another 10-15 yards is the primary concern. If you get a decent return, that is just gravy. Now if you have a great elusive return man who has great hands then by all means put him back there but the primary concern should be someone who can field the punt cleanly.

If you don’t put someone back there, they’ll just kick a punt that will roll forever instead of worrying about aiming it to a sideline or hang time. If you don’t put someone back there, it makes it easier on the punter. They’ll just kick a roller and have their gunners escort it inside the 5.

So you're saying that every QB that throws a single interception, every RB that fumbles once, every WR that bobbles one catch leading to a turnover, every kick returner that muffs one or fumbles one ONCE is benched because "coaches draw the line at loss of possession?"
