We only had 3 possessions in the first half and two of those we got inside the 10. It's kind of hard to make adjustments when you have run so few plays. I mean, you don't want to panic and overreact to a few missed assignments.

Also, part of the "problem" in the first half was on the QB bailing on the play. When this happens, do you scrap the gameplan, or try to coach up the QB and get him to settle down?

I remember the old days defending Les Miles for two years after our national championship in 2007. I’m not going to sit here and say Kelly is a dud, it’s only one game and that’d be absurd. I will say if we don’t see improvement these next two years then the criticism will be warranted. We should be more competitive next year though.

It really is only the cesspool that is tRant.

Most rational fans know that we didn’t play great, but will improve from here.

A bunch of morons frequent this board.

People were irate at him after the Florida game in 2003, too.

Good post, but I'm not sure if the issue is that we're spoiled. A large portion are just idiots and many are just simply unhappy people who just like being negative.

Or maybe your childish devotion to this team blinds you to assessing their performance objectively.

It was a pretty monumental task to get to this point in such an abbreviated time: extremely depleted roster, new coaches and staff, retaining existing players, recruiting new players, evaluating all players and exorcising the toxic culture, instilling a new culture, installing new training regimen, new offense and defense install, new routines.
There were bound to be assignment mistakes, bad calls, etc.

Given all of this, I’m honestly surprised it wasn’t worse. And I am proud of the fight in this team.

I have no doubt they’ll get it together.

The team looked like shite most of the game and there’s a valid reason why a lot of folks are pissed off or very concerned about things.

We probably looked like a 7-5 team...not really that far off what most fans expect this year. Yeh I wasn't happy with the game but some people, who predicted 7-5 or 8-4, still watch the games expecting a team competing for the sec west

I mean, I get what you are saying and agree, this is a going to be a long process to hopefully get back to being a perennial 10 win team. I am optimistic that Kelly is the right coach for the job

QUIT chasing SABAN!

The problem is, we weren't chasing Nick Saban on Sunday, we were chasing Mike Norvell. And with lesser talent and a pretty sloppy effort, he still remained uncaught. This reflects poorly on Kelly and the program and that is reason for immediate concern. This is a bad team that needs to make major improvements to avoid a losing season. Again, I am optimistic that Kelly is going to succeed, but that was a piss poor start.

How quickly we forget Curly Hallman

What we saw on Sunday resembled a Curly team. We risk reaching for the those lows once again. I want to believe in Coach Kelly, but not sure he understood what he was up against. The culture does not change overnight, and I am not sure entitled athletes of the south will take well to his coaching style.

Yeah and u still piss on the toilet seat. Your complaining doesn’t improve blocking, tackling issues, the scheme or the outcome of the game. Learn how to be a fan .

so you just mindlessly are a rah-rah, pom-pom wielding "fan"?

Maybe you should learn how to be less of a moron.

In what ways specifically? Bc I was around for the Curley Era. Not sure if you were though. Bc that comparison is not at all accurate

I'm so used to the nonsense here, but you took the words right out of my mouth. People expected us to have problems. They expected kicking problems, OL problems, QB problems, and RB problems, but when they actually saw it they act like they are completely shocked.

Is it really too much to ask for the team to at least know and execute the fundamentals such as blocking and tackling? Is it also too much to ask for a Special Teams unit to display a modicum of proficiency?
