Glacier National Park: Grizzly vs Moose

While working in Glacier National Park over the summer at the Many Glacier Hotel, I witnessed this crazy occurrence. The Mama Moose had twins, and after several days of stalking them, the bear got the first baby. However, when he went for the second baby, this is what happened.

It’s not like the moose whipped the bear in a brawl, the moose just scared the bear away. That looked like a young bear. A full grown Grizzly is one bad animal!

I was in Glacier over the last week. We actually crossed paths with a grizzly while trying to reach a summit. We all had bear spray on hand but it was still a terrifying experience.
There is another video circulating of a grizzly mauling a baby moose while a wedding was taking place up there

Went hiking with the wife last May in East Glacier. We were on a pretty solitary trail as not all of the ice had melted yet. We turned back and holy shite it was the biggest Grizzly I have ever seen about 100 yards away. We were able to scramble up a cliff and watch him take a bath in the stream for 20 minutes. He finally wandered off and we were able to make our way back down the trail.

That’s wild.
We went to Glacier about 6 years ago and were at many glacier lodge, and people were getting so close to the moose, the rangers had to make them disperse.
