Small Jazz Trade Hypo

Since the Jazz are inevitably going to be fire selling everything, if it worked out would you be interested in bringing NAW back on something small, maybe even a two-way?
I was admittedly always a huge NAW apologist. I just like the kid and thought I saw potential. A two-way right now might actually fit his realistic timeline better.
Also, I’m writing this at 2 am bc I had knee surgery Friday and can’t sleep for shite ??. Thoughts?

No. He doesn’t have the basketball iq. Just doesn’t make the right play. DD will be a better fit and a better player so with CJ Herb Jose DD and even Kira on the roster long term, how would he get minutes and why would we need him?

Well the decision making is what you’re trying to improve with the 2-way. I feel like he does still have some potential, and that’s the definition of low-risk/high-reward. You’re definitely right though, the decision making was just always so frustrating.

No. We don’t kneed him anymore.
Hoping for a full recover, welcome to the can’t sleep for shite club.

He’s on a full contract, he can’t be traded into a 2 way.
Would I take him back? Yeah I would trade Temple for him if Utah buys him out and we can bring him back as an assistant coach, but I wouldn’t give anything that has value.

depends on price.
yesterday i was thinking about getting him back.
I don't want kira so I've got a spot #15 on my TDGM pels bench for naw.
kira should go play in Philippines in an under 6 4" pro league.

Re: Kira…IMO we need to see if Kira can find his stroke this year and if not need to move on.
He has been very inefficient so far, which just kills his utility, since his main appeal is as an efficient do it all type lead guard that can initiate the offense in the half court, penetrate, push the pace in the open floor, and be an off ball finisher, while competing on defense. He likely isn’t ever going to be elite at any of those things, but his draft profile indicated he could be solid at them all which would make him playable on a winning team.
I really can’t explain why he has been so inefficient because he wasn’t in college and his shooting form looks fine and he is a plus athlete for a smaller guard.
Nonetheless if he can’t get it together early then the Pels are going to have to move on.
However, if he can find his stroke and stop missing makable shots, then he can carve out a spot in the rotation.
NAW was really somewhat similar IMO…showed some scoring knack, but has remained super inefficient and thus not playing winning basketball.

People forget how well Kira was playing before his injury. He was showing that he could be the first guard off the bench and be effective.
Hopefully he picks back up where he left off when he gets back from injury.

Large enough not to dump him outright, not enough to count on him, IMHO.
He has potential still but with as deep as our roster is right now, he either needs to show more or get shipped out.

Kira has way more upside. No need to bring NAW back. He is what he is at this point.

Or we can trade for a player who’s gonna actually help this team.
Posted on 9/5/22 at 9:45 am to PTinBR
NAW is in the best possible situation for him right now. He should get plenty of opportunity in a no-stakes environment to see if he can get it together. He’d be nailed to the bench if he were still here. And as everyone else has said, it’s shite or get time for Lewis

also...Daniels needs minutes
in the Jose/Lewis/graham/Daniels 2nd unit guard rotation it will all be about defense and not turning it over. Whoever can join Jose in doing that will play a lot

Near the end of NAW's time here he made a really bone headed play down the stretch that gave Willie the most exasperated look I've seen on him. It was an "I'm done with this shite" look and NAW was traded shortly after. NAW's problem isn't something that's easily fixable with work. He's got bad basketball instincts. He may never over come that.

I am forgetting. You have any stretch of stats to show that he ever played good?
Posted on 9/5/22 at 2:33 pm to PrayingMantis
Nothing from Kira's "good stretch" really stands out in the stats. I do remember a stretch where he got better at using his speed to attack the basket but he was never as good as what Jose showed.
Especially if they don't trade Graham before the season, I don't see where Kira gets minutes. To start the season those minutes will go to Graham. Later in the season if Graham is gone or someone takes minutes from him, I'd bet on those minutes going to Dyson rather than Kira.

1. nba guys are bigger. for the past 25 years refs allow steps and carry. magic carried.
Dr J steps.
from then to now refs allow more carry and steps. I saw lebron do steps 4 steps no dribble no call.
no way a small guy covers a bigger guy who doesn't have to dribble legally.
2. he doesn't get enough run to play loose..
not choking but not free and loose.
