It may not be good as some of you think, but the production quality is outstanding. The acting looked pretty solid too from what they showed in the trailer. Still skeptical because I love Lord of the Rings/The Simarillion so much and don’t think it can REALLY be done properly without Peter Jackson, but I’m cautiously optimistic.

They're really taking a calculated risk by going PC with Tolkien. Something tells me that one of the most beloved fantasy series on the planet's audience isn't interested in dancing to the tune Amazon is playing, here.

I guess I missed the Tolkein writings where Galadriel was some sword-wielding bad-arse.
Really, modern sensibilities make me appreciate Tolkein's storytelling even more. He really didn't have to harp on particular heroes and the temptations of evil were even more dangerous than whatever physical means they could bring to a battlefield. This looks like overpriced trash... and that's what I would expect from Amazon.

That trailer was one corny cliche after another. You have the works of one of the greatest writers in the history of literature at your disposal, and the best you can come up with is "our hearts and our feets."

Yep. I bailed after 3 episodes of WoT. It was bad.
This certainly looks better.
I'll give it a chance, but if its bad like WoT, I'll bail just as quickly.

I want this to be good. I really do. I'll give it a chance and see but I get the feeling I'm about to get The Last Jedi-ed here - super hyped by the trailer; disappointed to the point of rage by the actual thing.

The trailers make it less appealing each time. They are going to a huge hit but as stubborn as Amazon is regarding their PC support I will bet no matter the loss there will be a 2nd season.
