I don’t think it would look good to process a transfer

Unfortunately we don’t have room without telling the SC transfer to take a hike. You can’t really do that because that gives you a bad reputation in regards to recruiting. With White wanting to play third it limits our options in a crowded infield. If White could play 1st it would free up a spot but then what would you do with Jones and if Travinski comes back. All good problems to have but Hill’s late entry into the portal hurts his chances of coming to LSU.

Is nippolt competing for a spot this fall? candidate to get processed if we take Hill?

Nipples needs to learn how to hit or he's only playing as a defensive replacement late in games if at all at this point.
Luke is from B.R. and went to Arizona State as a FR. batted around 315 and has a good glove while playing SS for them with 2 years remaining of eligibility left, he's a take in my book.

There are plenty other situations that you can work out. It’s certainly not just Braswell or Hill. We are trying to fill both MIF spots.

Let's not forget that Nippolt was a true backup plan after both Young and Pineda signed unexpectedly. I understand the concern with recruiting over a transfer, but Jay started him almost the entire non-conference schedule until it was pretty clear that he couldn't find grass at the plate. And, I like Nippolt, he has great at bats, good defender, gritty, etc...but he was given every opportunity to prove himself, and that's about as much as you can ask for as a backup plan transfer. And, he got a Natty ring. Jay did alot of good for Ben Nippolt, no matter what the future holds.

You take the best available and let the chips fall. If I believe I am going to be unseated - which is not mine anyway as this is not an individual sport - I either transfer [which is fine and understandable], I improve my game where I don't get unseated or I try to land elsewhere on the squad

I wonder if Jay is back in B.R. or still recruiting in Cali?

The young man just cant hit, it is what it is. If youre trying to build a dynasty you cant have dead weight taking up a roster spot that can only field, its just that simple.

He can hit. Jay probably thinks he can tap into his ‘22 production in his second year here.

Yeah and 186 with 1 extra base hit in his time at LSU. Im not trying to disrespect the young man but if Jay is looking to add guys and build a deep roster you have to look at cutting some guys loose and he is a viable option IMO.

Whole bunch of smoke from Miss St boards from supposed insiders saying Braden Montgomery is headed there.

They’ve been saying that since April

What’s that matter?
Milazzo had 5 XBH with a .135 BA in ‘21.
1 XBH and .289 in ‘23.
If Jay sees something to keep Nippolt, be it defensively or offensively, I trust him to build a deep roster.

Maybe so, but they predict literally everyone to go there.
Listened to a podcast of theirs that set a goal for 12 SEC wins next year. He’d be playing for an interim coach by mid April if that happens.

Could you imagine LSU setting a goal for 12 SEC wins. The coach wouldn't start out the season if that was the realistic goal.

Have they hired a pitching coach yet?

I think Justin Parker from South Carolina.
