I just went back and looked at our 2021 high school class, this is the class signed that Jay inherited from Paul basically.

We signed 9 Top 200 PG prospects.

All 4 of the Top 60 ranked guys signed a pro contract.

Then next 5 guys in that class:
- Cale Lansville...transferred
- Luke Leto...transferred
- Grant Taylor...injured out for season
- Grant Fontenot...transferred
- Connor Simon...transferred

That is incredible. Not a single contributor on this team from the top 9 guys signed in that class.

Josh Pearson was just outside the top 200 that class and is the only starter this year (right now at least) from that class. The others in that high school class:
Kaleb Applebey (went juco)
Sam Dutton
Anthony Priester
Brennan Holt
Brant Smith
Josh Stevenson
Tripp Haddad

Honestly crazy Jay's turnaround of the program mostly through portal and freshmen class this year after that one.

Not sure if true or not, but conversated with LSU student at Aggie game yesterday who was sitting in front of us and a friend of few players on team. She mentioned Kaleb Appleby is still on team but didn't travel this weekend.

He is on the team. He didn’t sign with lsu out of high school, he came after one year of juco and came in injured. He’s redshirting.

New JUCO OF on the radar: Brock Slaton from Delgado. He's L/L sophomore from U-High in Baton Rouge. Spent his freshman year at Odessa College in Texas. Currently hitting over .400 for Delgado.

New 2023 infielder on the radar: Jake Warkentien from Arizona. Currently committed to NAIA Menlo College.

ETA: Looks like he's at Chandler High School but was previously at Chandler Hamilton and teammates with Ryan Kucherak.

NAIA to LSU’s radar. That’s an improvement.

Yeah, I thought so too. He didn’t play varsity as a junior which would normally tell you he’s probably not a big time prospect. But his old varsity team has two draft prospects (one committed to LSU) and another d1 commit all at his position. He made the right move to switch schools.

Are we still pursuing the in state kids that committed to Mississippi State or is Jay’s attitude about it that they made their bed?

They probably are, I don’t really have a way to confirm that though. The biggest one would be the kid fromCatholic High.

They have a few really good baseball players at CH who are you referring to? Just curious.

The one committed to Mississippi State, I was responding to a question specifically about Mississippi State commits from Louisiana.

Context clues: William Schmidt. He's a 24. RHP.

Yeah Schmidt has to be re-thinking that commitment right about now.

I dont even know if Lemonis will make it to next season as their coach. They look completely broken as a team right now, giving up 15 runs per game in SEC play so far 6 games in.

Schmidt committed to them before the start of last season, so not long after they won the title in 2021. So it might have been a bit of a championship high type of commit.

Gotta think state fans are pretty frustrated with Lemonis right now.

Once Cannizzaro’s recruits left the bottom fell out.

I know a lot of people don’t like him bc of their own reasons but that dude can recruit and evaluate talent.

They were able to bring in 4 Top 100 PG players this year in their class and havent gotten great results from most of them so far and all have played a good deal.

The switch-handed pitcher (#34 on PG overall) Cjindinfingig (no idea how it's spelled) has an ultra low BAVG against of only .164 and has 30 K in 22.2 IP but has shown a lot of control issues (15 walks, 8 hbp in those 22.2 IP) leading to an ERA of 4.37 and climbing in SEC play especially he has gone 7.2 IP, 7 H, 10 ER, 10 K, 7 BB, 4 HBP.

OF Dakota Jordan (#69 in PG overall) got benched before SEC play hitting .229 now with basically zero pop (.313 slg).

C Ross Highfill (#73 overall in PG) is their main catcher and has ok numbers at the plate - .254/.328/.542 (so good pop), but is a disaster behind the plate. In 15 starts at catcher he has 12 passed balls and teams are 22 for 25 against him in stolen bases, cant throw anyone out.

Bradley Loftin (#98 overall in PG) is a LHP with some good stats like a 2.25 ERA in 24.0 IP with just 12 H and 39 K...but he also has walked or hit 26 guys in 24 innings so he has control issues himself. He's been a mid-week starter for them, no SEC stats yet.

They were not able to bring in any PG To p100 overall players in 2021 class, as most of those guys signed anyways before their title season.

They have 3 Top 60 players in their 2023 class and 8 Top 75 players in their 2024 class which is pretty loaded. That 2024 class could fall apart pretty fast as they cant even sign until November 2023.

Former recruit Brice Turang makes his MLB debut today with the Brew Crew. I remember for a brief moment being excited he slipped in the draft lol
