The Yankees have imploded since July, so they probably lose to the Twins

Judge will still hit three homers, go 8-16, walk six times and Yankees will split or lose two out of four (I think they play four without looking)

this fricking 1st inning in this dodger game

At the Reds game; you would think we’re in Chicago with all these bandwagon Cubs fans. Eff this a whole bunch.
Cubs hit a BS homer with a Manfred special: ball carried like 30 feet further than it should have. 350 feet, what a joke.

Waino and Burnes locked in a duel.
10 straight retired for Adam. 0-0.

I’m young but old enough to have seen some of Randy, Schilling, Pedro.. deGrom is a level above them. Anyone who has a better memory help me out because it just seems unfathomable how dominant deGrom is when he’s healthy

I wouldn't go that far. Those HOF'ers were mowing down hitters at the height of the steroid and juiced ball era. And they dominated in the playoffs too. And they were more durable.

deGrom is great and his peak might be in the same league as Schilling, but Randy and Pedro are levels above him.

No hitter over with 2 outs in the 7th.

Gorman doubles! Goldy scores 1-0!
Man Gorman can hit it with power all over the field this kids power is legit no doubt.
To the 8th it's 1-0 Cards. Waino may have to go CG if he can. Helsley unavailable.
1-1 solo HR.

Vintage Wainwright tonight. He could pitch another 5 years if he wants too.

Yadi now 2 hits away from tying Yogi. Fitting.

I’ve always said peak Pedro was the best pitcher I’ve ever seen, but honestly I think this version of deGrom is the most unhittable pitcher ever. If he could only stay healthy.

So Judge might only OPS .980 against him?

quote:As far as pure dominance goes, deGrom is leagues above Schilling and absolutely in the Randy/Pedro tier. That's adjusted for era. He's insane.

Regarding durability, yeah. deGrom won't finish with Randy or Pedro's career numbers because he came up late and hasn't been healthy the past two years. But in terms of raw peak, deGrom is in the same conversation.

the dodgers march to a 300 run differential begins. would only be the third post war team to get there. if they hold onto the same current differential then they will easily make it

I don't see how you can grade it until we see Bader play.

Yankees could of course use Montgomery now, but this isn't a move for this season, its a long term thing.
Which undoubtedly did not sit very well in the clubhouse. Bader probably isn't going to play this season. Montgomery would have made 12 more starts for the Yankees down the stretch. Players like to see moves that are going to help the team win now.
Also, Montgomery had some hard luck outings in the first half of this season. If I recall correctly, he had an ERA just above 3.00 the first half of the season but only had 3 wins (pretty impossible with how hot the Yankees were as a team). Also he was a guy that was going to go out there and give you 6 innings the vast majority of his starts. He had dipped a bit in his last couple starts as a Yankee, but he has been fantastic in his first two appearances for St. Louis. The Yankees certainly could have used him down the stretch.
