What would you eat in the Warner Bros. Studios Cafe in 1941 if you could?

Jesus fricking Christ.
how?
How is a turkey cold cut 75 dollars in ‘41.
Movie stars weren’t as rich as they are today, and I bet even Tom Cruise would balk at paying 1500 dollars for a cold sandwich lunch.
EDIT
Wow….because those values are in cents.
Imagine a world where an entire restaurant menu including beef roast is sub a dollar.

Is that dollars or cents? I think it’s cents

Back then they used peanut butter on things that we would now deem weird as hell. For example, Ernest Hemingway loved PB and onion sandwiches which is a variation of the PB and pickle sandwich.

I'll take the canapés of anchovies with a a glass of room temperature certified milk. And I will be requiring the $0.25 tray service
frick it, tell them to send a dish of the jellied chicken broth as well

If so why would they randomly assign cent values to certain options? I'm thinking dollars or that there was an understanding in the era of which items were listed by dollar vs cent
Eggs are listed as $0.10 while lamb chops at 65. No way they're charging lamb chops at the cost of 6.5 eggs

The economics of the 1940s was weird.

T-bone, fries, and a PBR for a buck oh five. Pretty good deal.
Posted on 8/4/22 at 10:54 pm to UndercoverBryologist
It's Cents, relax.
So the T-bone would cost $15 today on that menu with inflation.
So I'd get that T-bone for 75 cents.
