So what if China goes after Taiwan and incites war?

Russia has point blank said today that if China goes after Taiwan that they would be on their side and provide military aid. Another Russian official said if war was started that after going fully after Ukraine, Lithuania, Lithuania’s neighbors, and the Balkans, they would first nuke London as the retaliation of it came to it. Safe assumption Iran and North Korea would join them both as well in this scenario, among other states that are subject to China due to the Belt and Road Initiative. So barring the nuking or likely attempted nuking of London, where would this go?
First off both Biden and Pelosi would have to resign or thrown out of office as President and Speaker of the House regardless. Then while Kamala flounders for a few weeks as the President you’d have to appoint a new Speaker of the House.
Now, you don’t have to be an elected member of the House to be the Speaker, it just matters who the Reps vote in as such. It’s unprecedented, but still legal. It would have to be Trump or DeSantis as an emergency as Churchill was voted into power during WWII. Now the Democrats won’t go along with this for now, but when the Republicans retake the House in November, then it will be possible.
So whoever is made Speaker, you then force Kamala Harris to resign as her brief status as President. Regardless if it’s Trump or DeSantis elected as Speaker and then ascends to the Presidency, I think you should make the other Vice President. The VP position has been vacant several times before, so the Speaker doesn’t automatically become VP for those of you wondering, just the President if both are taken out.
From there I’d say regardless you definitely fire (and quite frankly prosecute) Blinken and regardless if it’s Trump or DeSantis make Tulsi Gabbard the Secretary of State due to foreign policy. Secretary of Defense, I have no idea, but make it an underling who spoke out against Milley and Austin since none of the most recent ones are clearly not up for the task.
Thoughts?

You found the deep end….and kept going.

Russia is struggling with Ukraine but they’re going to give aid to China, also take over other nations and then nuke London?
Color me skeptical. Sounds like some 1950s Red Scare bullshite to me.

Sounds like an episode of 24.
Love it

quote:China is afraid, and Russia can barely invade a neighboring country with 70% fewer people. The US is just shy of double the combined population of Ukraine and Russia. Part of me worries what China will do to neighboring countries, or what they will get NK to do, but then again we may need a war to go in and cut out the cancer in China so their people don't suffer the level of oppression they've been subjected to.

Jeez, how many of these threads do we need?
You people act like crossing 100 miles of open ocean to invade an island with very few landing areas, and defended by over a million troops and highly advanced weapons is a bet the PLA is eager to try.
This is not Ukraine. The purely military challenges are significantly harder, and in all the time I’ve spent in China, I never saw much appetite for this fight.

this isn’t your gramps pacific campaign. We have multiple bases in the area and Japan and SK as an ally. Those bases alone are enough to hold China in place. They simply don’t have the Air Force, ships, or resources. 4 Us Carrier fleets are within striking distance. That’s 40 ships

You have gone from a decent poster to one of the board’s craziest over the last several years. Quite an accomplishment considering the state of this place.

Then I’m going to need a new Facebook profile filter that has both a Ukraine and Taiwan flag to help the war effort.

Imagine most of Asia speaking Chinese.....but with a slight Russian accent!

You can tell when someone is overhyping potential military movement in order to scare others into backing down because they casually toss nukes into the mix, especially when the opposition has nukes as well. Nukes are a last-ditch effort to take out an enemy through mutually-assured destruction when you see you are going to lose, they aren't an opening salvo because of the in-kind retaliation they bring with them. So right off that bat that other Russian official is full of shitski.
Another point on this is that Russia is having a rough go at taking Ukraine. They've had to back down their goal of taking the entire country to settling for just defending those areas they've taken which were pro-Russian already. This is the "massive military might" of the Russian armed forces invading, by land, a neighbor who has far fewer troops and equipment and had only 15-20 years to prepare (putting aside the metric frickton of financial and military aid they've received from the US and other countries). Hell, to this date they still have never achieved air superiority over Ukraine.
Until/Unless they can get Ukraine under control, they aren't going to do shite to any other country in Europe, especially one that is both a NATO and EU member (mutual defense agreements) like Lithuania. Remember when Putin threatened Sweden and Finland if they went ahead with their plans to join NATO? How's that going?
Just prior to WW2, Russia invaded Finland (see: Winter War). Finland has been preparing for another invasion from them for over half a century and has had the benefit of being given all sorts of advanced US offensive and defensive weaponry.
If they can't handle an ill-prepared Ukraine outside of already pro-Russian areas, they certainly aren't going to find an easier go of it against countries with no pro-Russian areas who have had over a half-century to prepare. And that's just a single country, imagine that as the whole of Europe (well... except for maybe France lolz) and now imagine that with Western support.
I could much sooner envision Russia aiding China against Taiwan (and retaliations from other countries against China for attacking Taiwan) before seeing them strike out at the combined EU/NATO defenses of Europe. It was "iffy" before Ukraine and how that has exposed the deteriorated state of their military, now it's pretty much a given. Considering this, I have to wonder what sort of state of readiness their nuclear weapons are in.

What? Why? You can look at my posting history and see I am far from being any sort of fan of either of them, but there has to be an actionable reason for them to be forced to resign/thrown out of office. There's a process which determines this and as long as the House is held by a large majority of Democrats and the Senate is held by enough Democrats that RINOs like Pierre Delecto can be swayed to vote against Impeachment, this is just some red-meat pipe-dream. Even when the new GOP majority is sworn into the House in January, they would be incredibly reluctant to attempt to Impeach Biden from office (even if they have the votes in the Senate) during what would amount to World War 3. Especially when the fallback is someone as ineffectual as Kamala (and to remove her would require a whole new round of Impeachment proceedings).

That’s my point, though.
Bombs and missiles are fine for softening things up. At some point, though, you have to put boots on the ground. The only way you get Taiwan to a point where moving that many men there is feasible is to blow it into so many pieces that it’s not worth invading.
Driving even 100,000 men over a land border is one thing. It would take 10 times that to even equal Taiwan’s forces (much less outnumber for a successful invasion). Somebody tell me how you get 1,000,000 men and materiel across 100 miles of open water and do it in a way where they are attacking en masse.
