Thought for sure we’d get a grad transfer…Mata may be our guy.

We’re going to see new faces in nearly every position group except DL and WR. Hard to say which groups are weak when there are so many changes.
The biggest question marks to me are:
- TE
- Specialists (P, K)
- OL (until proven otherwise)
Then, to a lesser degree, LB. We should be fine at both, but I worry about depth.
DB’s will be new faces but there’s a lot of experience among the transfers. Just hoping we don’t have issues as they learn a (presumably) new scheme.
We have some great competition for the QB and RB jobs. I’m not worried about those positions at all. Much more concerned about the OL blocking for them.

Is it still the OL?
I'm optimistic the staff will at the very least field a disciplined team. With all the talk of starting QB's and 10 wins as the floor LOL. The season can't get here soon enough.
The success of the O-line is critical. A freshman @ LT no matter how great he may be is a concern. Every other position on the line is up for grabs is also a concern. The fact that the unit has not played a single game together is a concern. Does it equate to gloom and doom IDK? Again I have faith in the staff & the "alignment!" I hope they gel quickly. I hope they can play smart/disciplined and not dig holes for themselves with pre-snap penalties. That will be moving in the right direction. my .02

Excellent way to frame it. We just don't know enough about this position group. Experience is lacking, but talent on paper appears to be there. Can they compete and hold up weekly in the SEC?

Running backs
We finished #207 in the nation last year.

Not a knock on Cambell hes one of the most talented o line recruits in a long time, but keep in mind they are starting a true freshman at LT in the SEC. Oline is my biggest question mark. Having just wrote this out they maybe have to play Daniels or Nuss at Qb for the escape ability they have.
Secondary next. The transfer should step in right away and bolster those positions but it is question mark until they do it.
Te after that, but they can have success even with a limited TE room. Hopefully the TE stayed in the weight room this summer.

I feel like the OL takes a step forward as a group. We have been VERY bad at this position the past 2 years. Fresh blood will benefit us greatly imo

kinda surprised running back isn’t being mentioned
We are really hoping Emory finally has that break out seasons. Signs look good on everything we've heard, but he has to show it.

TE, Safety, Linebacker in that order. Factoring in depth here. LB and S have major problems if injuries happen. TE definitely has depth problems. maybe CB but I don't see depth issues here just lots of unknowns. S has plenty of depth on paper but the problem with the position is all the younger S look absolutely lost in the scheme right now and the only young one who looked like he grasped the scheme in spring doesn't have the physicality to play the position yet. He needs a few years in the weight program.
We are absolutely fricked if Ward/Foucha get hurt. I guess it's decent we have Burns but he's still largely unknown over a bigger sample size. Behind him we're definitely in trouble. I'm actually surprised attrition hasn't happened here. We have 3-4 top 100 players at the position group and none of them look like they belong on the field except Burns.
I could make an argument for OL/CB/RB too but really, this team just has a shite ton of unknowns to really know.

Yep, tons of unknowns. Very weird trying to build thru the transfer portal.
Kelly was transparent during an SEC media days interview, when he said they were 2-3 years away from having a championship roster.

TE without a doubt followed by CB which is crazy considering we are DBU. I think that remedies itself with one good recruiting class though.

CB is fine, they just are not elite. LB and TE are huge question marks.

I wouldn’t say cb is fine

DB has grown on me, I think LB is probably the weakest spot on defense. TE on offense

If it is OL, we in trouble!

I’m not knighting for anyone, just pointing out Brennan has three SEC starts and averaged 350 yds and 4 Tds in each. Not the cream of the SEC, but SEC experience nonetheless.
