Playoffs: a lot will come down to health, but I think the best version of this team(Zion looks as dominant as before the injury and Bi continues to level up, young guys take steps forward, largely healthy going into the playoffs) could realistically make a conference finals. But the more realistic scenario is making the second round and playing a hard out.

Agree with this, I think a “win” for this team would be to make it to the second round of the playoffs and give a hard fought battle to the opponent.

Unfortunately I don’t see us making it past that point (barring injuries to opponents) due to our interior defense.

Now, if Jax and Zion somehow level up their defensive awareness (because honestly that’s all it is, they have the athleticism), then the sky’s the limit.

Too many good teams at the top of the West to say we "should" make the 2nd round imo.

Warriors
Clippers
Nuggets
Mavs
Grizzlies
Suns

during preseason we can set the order of finish.
2nd round implies a home game and some luck.
you can finish 3rd overall and get a very good opponent at 6.
you could get a top tier team whose 2nd best was out a while but now he's cooking.
I remember that happened to phila when I was a kid. Boston had two starters out a while.
all healthy and couple games went to last shot and Russell blocked wilt again and again.
phila #1 seed. out.

who has a guy to cover zion straight up. lakers minnesota gsw clippers memphis so it's not a slam dunk pels win a series at all. finals talk is premature. too many questions. lets see 10 games. ideally get a first round home series and play Dallas. maybe the round 2 star sprains a toe. it happens. gsw played 6 in round 2 with memphis. ja sat for 4 5 and 6. bizarrely memphis slaughtered gsw without ja game 4. they missed him in 5 and 6. bane had a disk out and Adams missed 2 including a loss, with covid. so 2 starters out and another not 100%. that's the ticket. Kyrie dominated curry. then Kyrie is out. love is out. ta da. gsw wins. next time green is tossed. gsw loses. bogut out. gsw loses. Klay out. kd out. gsw loses.

it's a constant. not just pels. most finals were decided by an injury. Kyrie stuffed curry. looked like Kyrie and lebron. then Kyrie down. love down. gsw wins. happens a lot. kd and Klay. heat were banged up v celtics last year. I remember cp3 hammy ending his run two different years . I think its more often than not.

I want to study your brain.

They do???

Giannis is the only one that I have seen really give Zion any real trouble....And that is sort of being kind cause Zion was still going through Giannis regularly in our matchup.

But i'm agree with him.

The injuries are very present in PO.
It can be the same thing with the Pels, especially with Zion which is injury prone...

Shaq was already in nba finals during his 3th season and choosen to the 50th Anniversary All-Time team in 1996 (the nba was so hyped by the 4 first seasons of Shaq)...

Zion : No nba finals during his 3th season (he even didn't play) and not included to the 75th Anniversary All-Time team.

Moreover Zion is really too small to play like Shaq, especially in the current nba. He needs to have a good mid-range shot at least. It would be less an issue if he had Giannis's height but...

You and BRmark might be tied for consistently worst takes on this board lol.

Shaq stayed in college 3 years and was almost two years older than Zion his third season. He made the finals in a down year in a weak East and was gifted Anfernee Hardaway who in one rookie year helped take Shaq from a .500 win team to over 50 wins.

There was literally NO ONE in the NBA that could stop Zion when he wanted to attack the rim. And that was with refs handicapping him by letting defenders maul him. In their words, he’s if Shaq and Chuck had a baby. Zion can either move around you, or go right through you. That’s why no one has been comparable to him since Shaq numbers wise

Healthy team, 8th or 9th seed, gtfo

Expectations

I expect us to start out slow. I think the first 2-3 weeks might be disappointing and Pels talk to be miserable. An off season of practice with the full squad will obviously be nice but I still think throwing Zion in will throw off the chemistry a bit.

After the chemistry kinks get worked out, I fully expect us to rip the league a new a-hole and Pels talk to be as pleasant as ever.

I think the Pels will start off red hot....

Be a top 3 seed going into the Christmas Break.... in the Jan/Feb months fall off some and fade more back into a 6-8 Seed and thats where they will land come playoff time.

Very exciting 1st Round Series that goes to 7, but loses out in Round 1...

Building block year, and Zion gets his first taste of NBA Playoffs...

2023-2024 similar but get out of Rd 1, and advance as a 4-6 seed.

2024-2025 LEAGUE frickED ( ALL OF THIS IS BASED OFF OF THE CURRENT PROJECTION AND PROBABLITY OF THE CORE OF THE TEAM - THINGS CHANGE IN THE NBA WITH SIMPLY 1 SOCIAL MEDIA POST OR OFF SEASON - ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN AND DERAIL THE FUTURE, BUT FOR NOW....2024/2025 LEAGUE frickED....PELS STAAAACKED)

Jose has underrated handles. Was even more on display with the PR national team.

I get there's really no way to work him into the starting lineup, so the question of who's primary handler is still there (guessing CJ steps up)
But he takes care of the ball on offense & is the best facilitator when he's out there with the second unit, imo.

3rd. English isn’t his native language so he occasionally has some minor issues like that in his posts.

Two things are necessary:

1.Better shooting from distance.

2. More consistent defense for entire games.

Those should be easy enough.

I think a 48 win 5th seed is realistic. Anything better would have all the right pieces fall in to place like we hope they will, but we haven’t seen it yet.

The biggest question mark is Zion. IF Zion stays healthy, this team is a top 4 seed. I seriously think people are forgetting just how dominant of a player he is. MVP level. Especially now that he has a good coach and players around him.

Keep underestimating while the lakers hit the lottery again.

Here's how I sort of see the season as it currently stands:

Tier 1A: Contenders who are unlikely to go all out to win the Reg Season but favorites to win it all
- Clippers
- Warriors

Tier 1B: Contenders that may or may not aim for a top seed
- Phoenix

Tier 2: Borderline Contenders that will aim for a top seed
- Denver
- Dallas
- Memphis(JJJ injury could fluctuate them)

Tier 3: Teams poised to make a Grizzlies like Regular Season leap:
- New Orleans
- Minny

Tier 4: Wildcard(could be mid tier, could miss the playoffs)
- Portland
- LAL

--------------------------------

Tier 5: Play In Ambitions:
- Sac
- OKC

Tier 6: Tankies
- SAS
- Hou

Tier 7: Utah
- Utah

Pels have a wide spread based on injuries(though so does everyone, really), but I think when you break it down, there are really 5-6 teams that will be actively pushing(and capable of achieving) for a top seed. And of those those 5-6, Pels have the best depth, and arguably the strongest starting 5 when healthy.

I truly do feel, that barring major injuries to the core, 1-5 seed is very much more likely than not. And it would not shock me at all if we look up after the all star break and see N.O. in the mix for the first seed. When healthy, it is as well built and well motivated as any roster in the league for the regular season.

The Pels have 2 main questions/weaknesses: ball handling and rim protection.

I would add elite shooting. Hopefully BI returns to form and Trey plays a lot. That would give us three 38-39% guys who play a lot and that’s more than enough with Zion. Jose said the next step in his game is a better outside shot so hopefully he can get to something more respectable.
