Did you see that we signed Robinson Cano? First Braves game will be tonight against the Mets.
Fun fact: the Mets are still paying $45,000,000 to from his Mariners contract.

Where's Trussville Tide?
Posted on 7/11/22 at 9:15 am to Wally Sparks
The Mets had a 10.5 game lead on June 1st.
Now on July 11th, it's a game and a half lead.
The Braves have always been the better team, it's finally playing out.

Mets pitching is getting healthy, the lead will be double digits again soon

Braves have a better rotation, and that might hold true even when deGrom comes back. Morton has found himself again and Strider and Wright have been revelations. When Ian Anderson is your distant #5 starter, your rotation is deep.

the Mets lineup has been strangely hot and cold here lately.
dogs days of summer I guess
Braves have played one more game and 5 more home games than the Mets as of today and the Mets pitching is finally starting to get healthy

Looking deeper - on June 1 Mets had a run differential of +72. The Braves had a run differential of -16.
Today the Mets are +70. They’ve actually been outscored since June 1 even though they still have a winning record during that time. Not a good trend and indicative of the fact they have been pretty good in close games but over time those 1 run/close game outcomes tend to balance out. For example I think the Mets are something like 7-1 in extra inning games. That’s excellent but law of averages in baseball is real and suggests Mets could regress towards the mean in their close games and that their current record could be better than their power rating.
The Braves are at +72. They’ve have been destroying people to the tune of outscoring opponents by +88 since June 1.
The underlying metrics are starting to tell the true tale of the tape.
Still with so many head to head games left between the two, either team can win it if they just dominate the other. I think it more likely they play fairly evenly head to head but the Braves deeper roster prevails in the end and they take the division as usual.

I am about to be on my baddest behavior the next 3 days, on orders from Bloopy himself.
Can't wait to raw dog these frickers and put them in mental purgatory for the reminder of the season. They're weak.

I heard that stat the other day and was shocked. The Mets offense has struggled to say the least, and outside of Alonso, they don't have anyone who hits for power

DeGrom back in 10 days. Will be fun on here on Thursday after we take at least 2. Y'all are lucky Diaz, Marte and Jeff are all unavailable tonight. LFGM

You Mets fans enjoy making excuses as your team's division lead is rapidly evaporating. Where was Ronald Acuna the first time we played the Mets? Where has Mike Soroka been for two years? Where was Luke Jackson and Tyler Matzek for the last month and a half (Luke is out for season)? Where was our playoff MVP from last year? Getting surgery to repair blurred vision and missing two months.
But here we stand, and the Braves are going in one direction, while the Mets have gone the other. The Braves offense, aside from a couple of guys missing earlier in the year, just vastly underperformed. They now have it figured out. The Mets offense got off to a pretty fluky start, and they are regressing back to what they really are.
But keep holding on to those excuses, and pretending that only your team has had injuries.
