Jesus Christ.

A week ago this board was full of chicken littles screaming at the sky about how we’re behind and we’re not getting any commits.

Now we get commitments and suddenly they don’t matter.

Agreed. Momentum is key. These kids see that a 5-star is on board, and it motivates more to consider LSU. Even if Dante Moore doesn’t wind up here or commit tomorrow, this will still make him think twice. It’s all about momentum, and right now we have that. Enjoy the ride, folks!

Yes, I think we are going to end up with the baseball-style threads of “I saw —- moving into his apartment over the weekend!” and “I saw —- walking to his first class!!” and we’ll still have people “portal over” to the highest bidder at the last minute. Sadly, I think the sport of traditional recruiting may be over. I am just going to see what 11 kids run out there when they blow the whistle in September

Y'all give way too much credit to a few rantards who start stupid threads.

They matter. It's good news, but "EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT" seems like a huge over reaction 5 months before signing day. It's the opposite end of the spectrum than those chicken little threads, but it still makes OP a rantard.

The Transfer Portal took the meaning out of everything that meant a kid was yours for 3+ years
A recruiting commitment is an oxymoron at this point.
All you can sort of count on at this point is an underclassmen that is in the mix to be a starter.
Once these kids see they won’t start, the clock starts ticking and their eyes wonder to the portal.
Welcome to NIL - Transfer ridden college football. They are replacing pageantry with expediency and currency. Sad.

BK is doing his job well ! Go Tigers !!

Just curious, is that a late-night drunk post or a first thing in the morning before coffee post?

Why is it sad?

Why shouldn't a kid be able to transfer to another school if one isn't working out and not lose any eligibility?

You can do it on the academic-side, so why not athletic?

If you’re referencing that receiver, I don’t think many would consider him an “extinction level event”

You are a sad, pathetic, little troll.

5AM post, nonetheless. It must really suck to live a day in his shoes!

If we got all three, THAT would be a haul.

Until a kid is signed and on campus, dressed in your uniform and sitting on your sideline at kickoff, commitment means nothing.

Eli Ricks was signed and on campus, and playing for us, and still switched his “commitment” to Alabama.

That is what OP is alluding to.
Jalen Brown/Dante Moore announcements coming tomorrow. Not sure when Sampson will make a commitment, but I would be surprised if it's not LSU.

Adding three 5 stars & bringing our total to 14 commits would jump us to #4 recruiting class on 247.

Everyone knows a commitment in July doesn’t 110% mean they are coming to saud school. But considering how much BS has been going around about how BK can’t recruit, I’d say a 5* commitment right now is good news.

NIL is one variable but if we have a lackluster season, we’ve seen what happens.

I may be in the minority on this, hell I’m likely definitely in the minority BUT to play devils advocate a bit…what if the NIL era takes over the respect my decision era?

In other words I don’t think it’s too far fetched to think that a commitment from a 5 star (read as a NIL deal with a 5 star) will lock that player down to keeping his “commitment”. Rising players in rankings, or lower star players, absolutely will continue to shop their name, but 5 stars I feel may be less prone to flip. Just my $0.02.

Even if we miss on one, two or three players you keep grinding.

CBK finished 12th with 15 players last recruiting class but he did not stop there. He kept grinding through the portal and LSU ended up finishing 6th after the transfers were added to all classes.
