Disney a good buy right now?

At pandemic prices currently, fell from nearly $180 at its peak.
Yes they are doing some questionable things and getting way too political in the short term but at these prices I can hear Warren Buffet on my shoulder saying “Its better to buy a great company at a good price than it is to buy a good company at a great price.”
IMO Disney long term is still one of those Blue Chip great ones.

65PE in a recession, it's not for me.

Aside from the politics (which personally irritates me), the P/E ratio is the one thing that stands out right now. It's shocking to see it so high when the stock is off 50% from it's one-year highs.
Regardless, and it sounds contradictory, the stock price in the low 90's seems too enticing. I've had an open buy order in for a few weeks at $90.5 and plan to leave it open.

I’ve been a fan of Disney stock for a while and finally bought some at 94/share during the pandemic. Wish I had sold when it was around 190/share but I want to be a long term holder with that stock so I didn’t. I have been considering buying more lately but just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Same here. Not sure why I didn’t sell when it was in the $180-200 range, considering the pre pandemic price was far lower.

I bought in at $96. Its a short term loser but a long term winner. I'm comfortable that I'll see returns good returns at that price point.
$180 again I don't know. $130-140 eventually is a definite over next 2-3 years. Nothing to sneeze at.

Have you considered “cash secured puts” ?

I disagree. Disney has a culture problem with failing entities such as ESPN. People will eventually get Marvel and Stars Wars Fatigue then all they will have left are the parks which are now extremely expensive.
I know this is a high level view but this is what I see on the surface.

FWIW, Macrotrends is a nice site, specifically for looking at pre/post-Covid PE-EPS interfacing, and sector security price comparisons (e.g., sortable sector price:book ratios)

I would never buy Disney as an individual stock now. I have my own values. I can’t help if I own them in an index but I don’t have to directly give them my money to groom children.

I’m really bullish on Disney since they announced that Gay Buzz Lightyear 2 is coming out next summer

What a head spinner.

You must have a small head if that spun you. I own an S&P 500 index fund but I don’t want to buy Disney as an individual stock. Not that difficult a concept.

I can’t stand Disney’s political / sexual leanings.
That said, their media platform will most likely be a premier world leader in 36 to 60 months.

they aren’t going anywhere and probably a fine long term investment- plenty of other places for growth with management teams that are there to maximize shareholder returns. Other businesses can virtue signal with minimal risk- chevron has a rainbow flag during pride month and sprinkles in some tranny commercials… whatever. Family values / child oriented mega company with a management team willing to seemingly spearhead controversial social issues seems… unnecessarily risky. Like, why? Just has that feeling of the company trending in a worrisome direction

I'll never buy Disney. What a horrible company.
