It's near a large drone airbase.

A Chinese company’s purchase of farmland in North Dakota just down the road from a US Air Force base that houses sensitive drone technology has lawmakers on Capitol Hill worried about potential espionage by Beijing, according to a report.
Fufeng Group, a Shandong, China-based company that specializes in flavor enhancers and sugar substitutes, recently purchased 300 acres of farmland near Grand Forks, North Dakota, a rural area that lies about a 90-minute drive from the Canadian border.
Grand Forks is also 40 miles away from Grafton, North Dakota, where a limited liability company believed to be controlled by billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates recently paid $13 million for thousands of acres of potato farmland, causing a stir among locals.

I can’t believe foreigners can buy land in our country.

Good gosh, you can by wet dirt (center pivots) around here for under $4000 an acre.
And yes it should be illegal. We are F’d, probably beyond repair,

Are you joking? I remember the 70’s and 80’s when Americans were widely concerned about a foreign nation “buying up” America. That nation? Japan.
And at the time, unbeknownst to most of those concerned Americans, the nation whose citizens owned the most property in America was Holland!

I was outbid by $325,000 on 100 acres recently. It was listed at $500,000 and it sold for 1.2 million. It wasn’t purchased by an individual. You tell me who bought it and why they would spend that much on land in BFE WNC.

Why do we fricking allow this?

The average price for an acre of farmland in ND rose 28% last year to around $3100 per.
This deal was for $10k per acre....
The article also mentions Bill Gates bought "thousands of acres" nearby for $13 million recently as well.

Land grabbing—when a government, company, or other entity purchases large swathes of land in another country—can affect local land rights and agricultural production, sometimes putting local food security at risk. While such purchases in low- and middle-income countries have been covered extensively, they also happen here in the United States. Foreign ownership of U.S. agricultural land doubled from 2009 to 2019, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) records, and policymakers have become increasingly concerned about foreign control of the U.S. food supply.
Q1: Where and why are foreign entities purchasing farmland in the United States?
A1: USDA records provide the best source of information on foreign-held agricultural land, although they are still incomplete and contain many errors (as explained in A3 below). According to USDA data, foreign investors owned at least 35.2 million acres of U.S. agricultural land in 2019—2.7 percent of U.S. farmland, an area almost the size of Iowa. While foreign land ownership has been reported in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, the holdings are concentrated in particular states. The greatest share is in Texas, with over 4.4 million acres, followed by Maine (3.3 million acres) and Alabama (1.8 million acres). Over 40 percent of the additional 3.4 million acres acquired by foreign investors in 2019 was located in Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado.

Yeah? Well whoopty fricking doo. Japan and Holland aren't hostile powers. Communist China is an enemy of this nation, and we just allowed them to buy land adjacent to an AFB. That's unconscionable.

Here is Tucker Carlson's take on China buying our farmland. LINK
I remember seeing this from a several weeks ago on Tucker's program.
I am concerned the genie is out of the bottle at this point.

There was a time prior to China’s buying off the US Corporatocracy (when China was allowed into the WTO) this shite would have been heavily scrutinized and most likely prohibited…..not anymore. The CCP probably got a good deal from Bill Gates.

China bought Smithfield, the largest pork processor in the US (world?) back around 2013. The company is completely integrated so it included 146k acres in Missouri.
Missouri lawmakers had to change the law in Missouri to allow foreign ownership of land to allow the sale.
Curious about the bribe amounts.

Trying to figure out if I should be more worried about the Chinese or Gates. Both are enemies of freedom.
