Get back to us in a month. There are like 6 or 7 big-time guys committing this month that are all expected to commit to LSU.

It's obvious you haven't been paying attention to what those who do commit say.

Well said. And as Kelly indicated LSU is not going to throw money around haphazardly. We are changing the culture of our football program which means we will choose to pass on some recruits because they will not fit into the championship culture of the future.

Proof is in the pudding, they say.

We will see how we finish in recruiting this year. If not very good, it is NIL.

Hard to argue this.

Is it?

2022 we are #7 overall, 12 in recruiting HS, 3rd in the portal.

2023 - I have to admit, I have no real data that I recall on how top recruiting classes have looked in July. Can you guys telling us how bad this is provide that data for us? What did the top 5 look like in July the last 5 years?

1. LSU's alumni and booster network has the money to stay competitive in NIL.

Maybe. I think it depends on just how far—and fast—it grows. Does it keep growing exponentially (it wasn’t too long ago Saban alluded to Bryce Young already having close to $1 million, and everybody lost their minds. Now we are hearing numbers like 8, 9.5, and 11 less than 2 years later)? Does it start to plateau soon and stay relatively close to where it is/]will be in a year or 2? Or does it course correct and drop back down to more reasonable figures due to some sort of legislation allowing for more regulation or simply big money boosters getting tired of dropping all those millions annually on kids and still not winning NCs.

Look at what we've spent on facilities, coaches, and buyouts compared to other major programs.

Exactly. We have fired the 4 highest paid coaches on campus and all their staffs (and Bo Pelini a year prior) and bought them out, and then went out and paid WAY over market price for regular coaches and staffs and landed elite ones and paid them accordingly. I’m sure they were excited to do so, to get new blood in and start aiming for excellence in all sports again. Same with renovations.

BUT(and I’ll address more of your points in another post as I submitted prematurely), going back to the same folks hat-n-hand, at some point, is gonna naturally frustrate them knowing that most of that buyout money was fixing Woodward’s contract frick ups. And it’s one thing to throw some cash for great, professional coaches that will inevitably bring winning. And donating to the upgrading of facilities that they themselves might have the opportunity to enjoy, or that can be used to entice multiple players over multiple years to come to LSU to take advantage of would probably be cool too. But stroking a million+ dollar check for a single 17-year-old high schooler? Once, maybe. But the new norm? I’m not sure.

LSU is dramatically behind aTm and UT money wise, honestly so is the entire SEC. Without some kind of salary cap that levels the field the game is going to turn into who has the biggest budget.

While we may not have enough to go dollar for dollar with the University of Texas or Miami,

I think a big part of NIL that seems to get overlooked is “will.” Texas and Miami and storied programs whose big money boosters remember them winning NCs and likely how awesome that was for them, and they’re desperate to recapture it.

But we’ve won 2 NCs and played for another since Texas won in ‘05. Won 3 and played for a 4th since Miami last won in ‘01. We’ve had recent success and while we want to keep it going, simply aren’t as desperate as some of those schools and don’t have the will to go dollar for dollar with them, even if we could.

I’ve used the term “thirsty” to describe how I see part of this. Miami is thirsty to get back to winning NCs, so they’re more willing to throw crazy money right now. But either that thirst will get quenched by a championship or 2, or they’ll just get tired of paying high schoolers multi million dollars to finish 9-3 every year.

Ohio State Coach Day said they have 26 cant live without players on their roster. That's basically 8-10 recruits per season that will receive some kind of nice compensation. For example, I think we really need Sampson and Heard, to just name a couple. I'm sure Team X will offer them, say, $250k per season. What kind of concerns me is the bidding. I would love to know Coach BKs plan for beating this new Monopoly game.

Swoop in a week or two prior to signing day with a matching or greater offer

This is why Bama ALWAYS flips a shite-ton of Elite recruits on Signing Day - Usually LSU Commits LOL!!

Seriously just go back & see how many 4/5* commits from other teams Bama flips (SEC Teams mostly but occasionally its West Coast teams too).

Ever wonder why there are salary caps in professional sports?

If not, now is the time.

we arent going to compete with UT, aTm, USC, Oregon, or Ohio St in NIL for sure. There are others that we probably won't be able to keep up with such as a big chunk of the big Ten (michigan for ex), Miami, Bama (fans will bankrupt themselves to support), Georgia, and a lot of others.

But right now we are way behind where we can get to. We should be able to stay in at least the top 20-30 in NIL recruiting year in year out if we get our shite together.

1 and 2 go together as #1. You can get an upset win here and there with 3-5, but you can't make the playoffs and definitely not win it all with out #1. No team has won it all without having the best players.

The West South Central Region - TX LA AR OK.

One of these is not like the others. Texas is it’s own region as is California. If a states GPD is top ten in the whole world, they do not get lumped with other states.

Been saying this. People want to stick their heads in the sand. If and when this turns, it'll be people like me who helped to turn it.

For anyone asking, have donated well over 10k in the last two years. What's your donation? We all need to kick in.
