There’s nowhere to build a stadium. Where would you want it, NOLA East? Slidell? North shore? Biloxi? Jackson?

Because doing this leading up to the next Super Bowl is a good investment that has laid off time and again for the city

I’ve been to games in: Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago, Tampa, Miami, New Orleans, Dallas, and Houston. The places with stadiums smack dab in downtown (Detroit, Indy, NOLA) are head and shoulders above the ones that aren’t. There is just no comparing. The only caveat here is Dallas where the stadium is an attraction unto itself.
The concentration of the CBD/Warehouse District/Quarter and all the hotels and restaurants and the lax alcohol laws are why NOLA will continue to get huge events no matter how high the bodies stack up. All they have to do is keep the superdome minimially modernized hence the renovations. (Maybe keep the power on in 2025 guys).

Whether it’s renovate or build new, it has to stay in the current location.
The location is the Dome’s biggest asset.

It’s a bottom 10 NFL stadium venue. It sucks.
*keeps getting Super Bowls*
Yeah idk

Instead of doing renovations over and over, the state should buy a piece of property in the middle of a field in St. Tammany Parish. There would be much more room for parking and there wouldn’t be a traffic cluster frick like in downtown NOLA. Access to the stadium would be much easier, and they could put in state-of-the-art amenities.
Can this guy just get banned already?

The superdome is one of the best overall setups in sports, worldwide.
The only negative is Nola crime.
The building is fine, outside of some petty bullshite you bitched about.
The building really has stood the test of time. Many of its contemporaries have already been demolished.

Keep that shite south of the lake, the people north of the lake don’t usually execute people in broad daylight for everyone to see. I would rather be gobbled up by Mississippi before being interwoven with that cesspool south of the lake.

Benson wanted to build a riverfront stadium before Katrina. It got some real traction and buzz around the state.
June 20, 2001 - Associated Press
The state of Louisiana presented a new proposal to the Saints in an effort to keep the team in New Orleans.
In the plan presented to the Saints, the state made a commitment to build a new stadium, to be completed between 2009 and 2011, if the Saints continue to insist they need one.
The Saints say they cannot compete with NFL competitors in bigger and richer markets without state help, a conclusion the state's consultants have confirmed.
Owner Tom Benson's vision for a new football stadium inspired the architects at HOK to design a building that is compatible with its surroundings in New Orleans. Each plan for a new facility features an oval shape that provides ideal sightlines for the fans, while also adding elements that recall a classic football setting. A retractable roof brings the joys of outdoor football back to the region while also protecting the fans from harsh weather.
Compared to the Superdome, fan accommodations will be greatly improved. It will be easier to get to your seats, to concession stands and out of the stadium. The seats will be more comfortable and closer to the action on the field. A state-of-the-art entertainment system will add to the experience with videos and an enhanced scoreboard system. Benson's plans also bring tailgating back to the fans, something that has been sorely missed over the last 25 years.
It would have been some cheap early 2000s cookie cutter bullshite like Gillette Stadium. I'm glad they didn't go with this.

The State can't even afford to keep its roads and bridges in good condition. Building a new stadium is probably at the bottom of the list of priorities right now.
Bruh, the state had a surplus this year. The problem is, if the politicians have nothing to gain, its not getting done.
If they can't find away to get the right contractors who will submit the lowest bid because its easier to submit a really low bid then ask for the money while the project is in progress and turn around and take care of the state representative or senator who coached them on how to get the job, then nothing is getting done.
Anytime they say "we don't have enough money", thats bullsit. they can always find money when they want something done.

The superdome is a national treasure. Everything doesn't have to be new and in the damn suburbs. Alot of Nola sucks, but the superdome kicks arse

I park by the quarter, grab breakfast at Johnny's or something, walk to the stadium, watch a game, walk back to the quarter and grab something to eat and then drive home all why encountering little traffic. We had season tickets for a long time, I think we sat in traffic once. There is too much to go do to sit in traffic.
Were you shot two or three times?

Gillette Stadium? Have you been there?
LA Superdome still houses Big 5 college football bowl game, and is in Super Bowl / Final Four rotation. The venue isn’t the problem, Destroya and her pro-murder/crime enablers are the problem. New venue doesn’t resolve the true underlying issues.

Buying a big piece of land outside the city is like writing a check to the NFL rather than getting money to locals.
The NFL controls the entire thing, parking, food, entertainment, tailgating, etc.
Turns it to a sterile gameday feel and takes away from Louisiana's investment to bolster the local economy.
IDK. I feel like Saints fans would make a badass tailgate culture if they had the space for it.
