Today both Nurkic and Dame posted a picture of Dame and KD in a blazers jersey together. there must be some serious smoke of KD joining them through a trade .
Free Agency officially starts June 30 at 5ct

Nets have absolutely zero reason to trade KD. They have him on contract for a few more years.
That and the Rockets own like all their future picks.

Portland has a lot of pieces but not enough for Brooklyn to bite unless it was a multi team trade or the Nets have no alternative.
Pieces include Anfernee Simons (RFA), Shaedon Sharpe, Hart, Keon Johnson, Justice Winslow, Didi, Trendon Watford, Jerami Grant, Bledsoe, and rights to a number of other players.
Their problem is that they don’t have much in the way of draft capital to send out, as they owe a 2023 1st to Chicago and they shipped out the Milwaukee 2025 1st for Jerami Grant.
If Portland finds a way to turn some of those unneeded players into picks or players that would help turn Brooklyn around if Kyrie and Durant left (enough to not be a bad lottery team at least, given what they owe to Houston), they may think about it.

At this point, the main reason to trade him WOULD be to regain their picks and negate the swaps.
That Harden trade is going to hit them for about the next decade.

Anyone know if those picks are protected?

Not technically a “free agency” post but I’ve talked myself into emptying the war chest for Murray.

You’re sleeping in Simons. Dame doesn’t play through this retooling without believing Simons takes another step (which he will imo).
Really the trade comes down to what the Nets think of Sharpe imo

Cam Thomas fixing to average 20 PPG when he’s leading the Nets to a top 5 pick

Aaron J. Fentress: Source: Blazers fully guarantee Josh Hart’s contract that will pay him $12.9 million next season. Deadline was today. There is a mutual option for the following season. This was absolutely a no-brainer. #RipCity

Good for Josh! I’m happy for him!

Sharpe and Thomas would be... entertaining
2 guys who need to develop on a veteran team who will likely go astray on a rebuilding team.

Only one of them is protected, best I can tell, and that is a weird split swap with Houston and OKC, also involving the Clippers’ pick from OKC.

I pretty much put everyone out there but Dames and Nurkik because the Blazers have a lot of players to choose from on contract or where they own the rights.
What they keep kind of depends on matching $44m in salary in addition to whatever else Brooklyn would want.

Good question - Dejounte
Posted on 6/26/22 at 6:32 am to NawlinsTiger9
You wouldn’t have to empty the warchest for him. Spurs said they want a Jrue type package, which means 2 bad contracts and 3 late 1sts.
You could do Graham and Hayes plus a 1st and a swap and be pretty close in the ballpark. The problem is you have to pay him a max next year, and that would have us with 4 max players and staring down the barrel of having to let CJ or Herb or Val walk because we can’t afford to keep everyone.

The best part about Dejounte is that he has a cheap arse contract through 23-24. This is when CJ's contract expires, so we wouldn't have to pay both max money. It would be a natural progression.
We shouldn't pay CJ major money after his contract expires. That would be dumb.
The issue would be playing time for Murray and CJ
Posted on 6/26/22 at 7:28 am to SlowFlowPro
The worst part about Dejounte Murray is he's a Klutch client. Maybe there's a reason the Spurs are looking to move him with his next contract on the horizon.
Posted on 6/26/22 at 7:34 am to TigerinATL
The only way I would actively pursue a Klutch client is if the deal was one that you can't refuse! This is not what the Spurs are going to allow. Even if the Pels could get a real one sided deal for a Klutch client, I would have big concerns!
