Ken Griffin Moving Citadel From Chicago to Miami Following Crime Complaints
“If people aren’t safe here, they’re not going to live here,” he said then. “I’ve had multiple colleagues mugged at gunpoint. I’ve had a colleague stabbed on the way to work. Countless issues of burglary. I mean, that’s a really difficult backdrop with which to draw talent to your city from.”

Was in Chicago last weekend. The Loop area is in noticeable decline.

I'm there now.
You're not kidding.

Most major US cities are in noticeable decline right now.
Crime, empty storefronts, declining quality of life and affordability, homelessness and in many cases an exodus to conservative run suburbs and states.
We will be lucky if we avoid adding food shortages to that list within the next 12 months given current trends and projections.

The Head of a fortune 500 company here in St.Louis is at his wits end. He had a guy, who was coming in for interview, and they invited him and his family. They got on the metro link from airport, and were harassed and bullied by the inner city dwellers, and since you have a Soros DA in city, and an idiot in County, you get shite courts and sentencing.
He said he's had enough, and this is a guy who put a building in Ferguson, so there would be more jobs for NoCo area.

Living in the Randolph/Halstead area in 2018-2019 was the tits. The west loop was awesome. Could walk to work. Dozens of awesome restaurants a short stroll away. No crime. Hell I’ve walked from Michigan Ave to that area at 10pm and never had an issue.
But things have changed. Loop is not what it was before the pandemic.
Still not as noticeable of a decline to me as Minneapolis. That downtown feels dead.

The first step is getting mental health facilities running again to care for the +1 million homeless people living on the streets and under bridges in every major city. Most of these people are suffering from untreated mental illness exacerbated by drug and alcohol addiction. And if the ACLU bitches about forcing treatment on these poor souls send them the bill to care for these people and to clean up the mess they create.

Rookie move taking the MetroLink.
Just take your wallet, $100 and your phone and throw them off the nearest bridge. Same effect.

I moved to NYC from Atlanta a decade ago. It was so much safer than ATL. No issues walking the streets even at 4 a.m.
Now you gotta watch your back at all times, and the subway is a no go zone.

NYC and Portland are both in noticeable declines. Lots of vacant buildings. Harder to find restaurants.

Well, maybe harder to find reservations in good restaurants..but plenty of restaurants still in NYC.
Just the safety situation is horrendous.

Well if Russia Nukes us you can bet Chicago is on that list.

Speaking of notable declines--the CBD of New Orleans is a ghost town. It is really sad to see how far this city has fallen and how much further it has to go downward. Lunch time restaurants were 1/8 full to empty across the CBD.

Fighting systemic racism for the benefit of none.

A lot to do with the heat probably and food trucks.

Atlanta was awful the last time I went. The nice Buckhead areas I used to party in 10 or so years ago were bad.
