What to do about dirt daubers?

These things are constantly making those mud nests all over my house and are pretty tough to knock down and clean after. Any suggestions to get rid of them?

Don't know the answer, but I will often knock down the mud nest then drench it with wasp spray to keep them from coming back to the area. It at least keeps them away for a few months

It may just be me or my region, but I am seeing a lot more daubers & nests this year than before

In for answers. They find every crack and crevice on my boat, motor and all

I like the fact that they paralyze spiders and entomb them in dirt to be eaten alive by the larvae. I hate spiders btw. Some joe max/Clorox mix dissolves their nest pretty easily. I’m of no help on how to keep them away.

*following; and these things are constantly tripping freaking security camera all day...

Can't. They're forever making a mess of my stuff. Since I learned they love to kill spiders, they get a pass now.

Has anyone tried the hanging traps they sell at lowes and HD?

hang puffed up paper lunch bags. It is ugly but keeps wasps and daubers away for the most part.

Peppermint oil cut with water in a pump sprayer, spray about once a month

Suspend/Talstar mix has effectively dropped the number of wasp and mud nest around my house to zero. I'm all for alternative solutions but this is one problem I have no problem going straight to chemicals for.

Go to your local pest control store or feed store and ask for a poison called Demon. Mix it in a pump sprayer and spray eaves and patio roof where nests are common. It will dry and leave a residue that keeps them away as long as its not washed off. Been effective for me for several years.

Do my own site
Searched all over this site looking for something for roaches & mosquitoes and never saw this before. May have to give this a shot when my Talstar P runs out

If you’re talking about the sticky trap, I hung 2. 1 is full of them and the integer only has a couple. It took a few days for them to get stuck.

Definitely have the same problem. I hung a couple of sticky traps, seems to help temporarily. My dad just told me about mixing boric acid and apple juice and put it in a drink/beer can. Says it won’t kill them right away, but they bring the boric acid back to the nest and slowly kills them off. Works for wasps too.

If you’ve ever torn the nests down, it’s amazing to see all the spiders inside that they’ve caught.

That has absolutely worked for us.

I break their nest off and throw them in the yard. It's actually somewhat therapeutic.

But spiders kill other bugs. I am pro-spider.
