Let's just call him a high risk, high reward guy.
He fields .900. But, he looks like a kid that could be a major league SS. Maybe he goes .950 at SS or another position, maybe he goes .850 though.
He's creeping up into the .300 range, not much slug. Looks like a kid with light tower power, also has streaks where he works the middle and backside for average. Maybe he clicks and goes .320 with 15 bombs, maybe he goes .250 with 6 bombs again.
The median isn't great. That's my whole point. Love him. I want him to peak. But, it wouldn't surprise me in any direction, up/down, portal/leave/stay.

Damn close to it. He was probably 5th best. But obviously he, doughty, and pearson all finished with very similar OPS’. So i dont see the issue
I see him as the 7th best hitter on the team from last year at best.

I actually agree with all of this.

It’s like Kramer’s sophomore season all over again

Except kramer was always good defensively and didnt really hit much at all his first 2 years

What's not to agree with? He basically covered every situation.

Nice, McManus had the 4th best OPS on the team. You think he was the 4th best hitter?
McManus was a monster once he got regular starts

No need to exaggerate, he isnt that good of a hitter
your overinflated sense of self worth is pretty laughable

Jacoby Jones use to have that prototype look for MLB and would go on cold streaks then hot especially his bat. Thompson was highly recruited and highly rated. He has a big ceiling I hope he can have a big season like his freshman year.

It's crazy to want him gone. If he leaves you still have to replace 2nd and 3rd base with someone who can hit somewhere in the same league as berry and doughty (good luck finding that) He stays, you only have to fill one of those spots. Come on people!

I agree he got a lot better towards the end of the year. But do think he is a better hitter than Crews, Berry, Morgan, Doughty, Pearson, or Dugas?
Posted on 6/21/22 at 12:18 pm to josh336
correct if Im wrong but does Thompson have 5 walk off hits in two years. plus he improve his hitting this year from freshman year, hitting almost 300 at the end of this season.
yea sounds like he's not a good hitter.

Plain and simple. If he stays, he plays somewhere. Starts as a middle infielder every week on this team. Yes even if some of these great freshmen show up to campus. (which the bulk of them will not)

thompson has a weird following of people that think the oozes talent despite all the evidence to the contrary
I feel the same way about Stevenson, because of the fact
that he is Andrew's younger brother, and a local kid from the Lafayette area.
I still can not get over how awful he was in the Regional as he DID NOT HAVE A CLUE of what he was doing in left field in that second game against S. Miss., and of course he didn't bat for dick either.

Just slide him to wherever he doesn’t get the ball hit to his general direction.

I think they try to stick Thompson at 2nd.
Or 3rd.
