Pineda is an upgrade both offensively and defensively. Does Thompson stick around and fight for 2B or 3rd? Or does he role out?

I think they try to stick Thompson at 2nd.

Goodness, some of yall. These two will likely battle for SS and the other will play 2B. Thompson can probably play 3rd too. He's not going anywhere, at least not getting forced out because PT is gone. He will be on the field and he's more valuable than most will give him credit for.

I wouldn’t rule anything out but he seems to like LSU

PM had him st third initially. He fits better there.
I say he moves west not east.

You think they are worried about which position he hits better while playing? It will depend upon which position he can effectively play as well as who else Jay wants in the lineup.

JT was referenced as a huge dugout leader towards the end of the season. Offensively he was fine. He may very well get beat out at SS, but we got 3B and 2B that need played as well. I am just glad we have other options for MIF.

Jordan Thompson’s bat will keep him in the lineup somewhere. He’s a really good hitter and very very clutch.

You would hope that Jay and Thompson discussed other infielders coming in and how Jay envisioned Thompson fitting in. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Thompson entered the portal. It's one thing to talk about certain things happening, but it's another to actually see and feel them - Thompson may not like the taste of things.

I am not as enamored with Thompson as many on this board. I will not be surprised if he goes. His fielding is simply a liability. I am certain Jay Johnson is looking to improve his infield. Why wouldn’t he?

That's the real question for me. How good of a hitter is he? Statistically, he was the worst hitter in our lineup. He had his moments, but was otherwise just okay. Even your swing and miss guys like Jobert and McManus at least slugged. Thompson played a premium position on the field, but he was bad at that too. I don't know if I just want to stick him somewhere and hope it works.

Thompson had a bad year defensively. But as we would likely have won some of the games in which he didn’t make the plays he could have, there were just as many where his play was key to us winning. I hope he’s not going anywhere. He will correct his fielding anxiety.
