If it is for swimming and not golf/tennis the Southern Yacht Club makes sense. Best views. Great summer sailing camp for kids. Lots of special events for holidays and such.

I hear the pool parties are legendary.

I'm a member of a country club. Country music is what I love.

NOCC is hard to get into. If you are black or Jewish or not from New Orleans in any fashion you will not get in.

MCC is fairly easy to get into with member recommendations. If you are black you will not get in but if you are Jewish you have a chance.

Lawn and Tennis is fairly easy to get into and welcomes Jews and other minorities. I’m not sure if there are black members but I think a black family could join today.

Southern Yacht club admission is similar to MCC.

I appreciate the responses thus far. I guess I would rank the order of things important to us as: food, golf, pool, service, atmosphere and then tennis/pickleball.

Given your interests, its MCC.

Genuine question for those that may know, but why exactly do some CC exclude blacks and Jews? I get excluding any family for financial reasons, but what’s the harm in admitting a black family where the husband is a doctor or bank executive or whatever pulling in $300k per year? Is it just long standing tradition?

My first thought was that you were asking about one of these:

I need more coffee.

One time I saw a gal get naked in the sauna at the Country Club in the Bywater, so your fam would probably enjoy that

NO was big on separate but equal before that was a thing. Everybody has a club you can join, black clubs jewish clubs its here. But you do not cross streams.

I'd be a little more specific. I'm guessing you're not willing to drive to the northshore or westbank to take the family swimming.

I always preferred Mudbugs to Mustang Sally's but both were enjoyable at times

It was in 2021.

I have a friend who skirted it by joining Pass Christian Yacht Club and uses reciprocal privileges somehow for everything at Southern.

We may have the same friend.

Initiation went up last year at SYC to just over 12k. It depends on age as well. Younger new members pay less until they hit the next tier until they are full members.

Might well be.

He claimed there was no catch or anything. Its just a loophole he exploited.

I am skeptical...there has to be some "catch"
