I know Zappa is well traveled, especially around Texas. No clue what he is smoking to think TX roads are crap. Comparing TX to LA is night and day different.

And you’ve posted in the FBD board on multiple occasions showcasing your living conditions. And if you’re paying that in taxes, wow

Taxes in Texas average about 2% per assessed value. Some obviously higher and some lower depending on locality. I can easily see a 14k bill depending on where he lives in DFW. When we lived in the city of Houston our tax was about 12k. We moved out of the city and only pay about 8 now.

WTF? If anything most I know want more toll roads to fill some gaps and relieve other roads. Quicker than waiting on govt roads. Pay for what you use.

Toll roads suck. I use them often but when the county says the tolls should sunset at some point and they don’t. That’s highway rubbery.

Collin county has said no more and there will be some extensions of toll roads In DFW but you won't see another totally new one built. 4 or 5 years ago this was a major issue and Abbot pretty much said no more toll roads..

If they weren’t there you would be on regular roads with intersections, stop lights, and so on. Point with toll roads are building highway type roads where local govts will not fund them and/or to get them done quicker. That’s not to say all new construction would be best as tollways, but many tolls today would still be like coit or Preston type of roads with lights and intersections and so on as govts weren’t building them by themselves and would be even worse at their upkeep if they did. 75 and 45 in Dallas have become trash dumps.

As for no sunset that’s usually because upgrades, extensions, and/or added lanes get approved which then have to be paid off. If you want them to convert that has to stop.

DNT keeps going north.

We don’t need anymore tolls or interstates in the northern area with 121, GBTP, and 635 cutting across and the DNT and 75 hitting the north south.

I’m thankful for the DNT though…it’s basically responsible for Frisco and Plano existing as it does.

Dallas County is awful. It would not surprise me if you paid more for less than even the usual crappy govt service but just not the over 200% increase in 20 years due to valuation increases only with zero improvements or changes to property since then like you keep saying.

the actual % of the property tax rate should decrease to offset the extra revenue gained by this large increase in land values

I don't know why no one is focusing on this very salient point.

Because it’s bogus. Sure the revenue goes up as the assesment goes up due to inflation, but the revenue is worth less, and by the same percentage as it went up.

So the government can buy the same amount of goods and services with the increased revenue that they could with the old revenue - not compared to the previous year, because the value of the revenue decreased over several years, while the increase in revenue happened from one year to the next.

I’d love more toll roads and extensions but this is true. They need to expand the express lanes also.

FTFY. Cars are cringe and gay and we need less of them in major urban areas.

The brain worms of car culture have terminally affected this board.
