Bow recommendation

I’d like to learn to shoot a compound bow. I’ve deer hunted before but with rifle. I now live in KC and gun season here is only like two weeks and most bow hunt. Anyone recommend a good first time bow? Probably in $500 range to start.

Should be able to find either a decent used bow or new starter package for that. Pretty much all of the major brands make good bows, it's more about personal preference. Find a reputable archery shop. They'll let you shoot a few to see what you like and usually will set up/tune it for free when you purchase.
John Dudley is pretty boring but his School of Knock videos on youtube helped me a lot with my shooting.

I shot a PSE Stinger RTS package I got at bass pro for almost ten years. Head over at shoot a couple. You can be ready to hunt with arrows for <$500

Second the pse stinger. Or head over to archery talk and buy used.

x 1000 .. shoot various bows brands and models, let the bow choose you. Some have aggressive cams that are a bit difficult to draw, yet fast. Others have super smooth cams, easy to draw, yet a bit slower than the higher rated "speed bows". Buy what feels best to you

I’d buy one that is super adjustable, any of the Elites with the SET system would be fantastic. A Kure, Remedy, or Enkore would be a great used setup. They are all pretty smooth and fast and everything is adjustable. And if you decide to get into tuning them, you don’t need a bow press.
You won’t find one completely outfitted for $500 but you could find a bare bow in that range, and pick rest, sight, etc. I think it’s be worth the extra.

I agree. I'd try to find a used Elite Kure off Facebook or archerytalk.

Bear makes a decent entry level bow. You can get the whole set up for around $5-600 at bass pro or cabelas.

Recommend archery talk as well. Their classifieds are solid. Make sure you consider what you’ll spend on getting it tuned and all your accessories as well.

If you've never shot a compound before, why not just get a crossbow? They are significantly simpler to operate and it is a lot easier to be consistent with one.

I just purchased a Hoyt Torrex from a bow shop here locally. Phenomenal reviews online about the bow and I purchased it for $850. It comes loaded with everything you need to hunt.
