Inflation remained painfully high in May, with consumer prices hitting a new four-decade high that exacerbated a financial strain for millions of Americans and worsened a political crisis for President Biden.

The Labor Department said Friday that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods, including gasoline, groceries and rents, rose 8.6% in May from a year ago. Prices jumped 1% in the one-month period from April. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.7% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists.

That is a straight up fricking lie. Gas is up 100%, grocery bill is up 50%, electricity bill is up 33%.

This is all planned.

Inflation is great for debt holders like the federal government. They get to pay old debt with new dollars.

We are cutting back on business travel again. Sorry if you work for the airlines or the hotels.

Honestly this sucks for almost everyone.

It's going to get worse.

Wait until harvest season (August-October). That's when all the spring crops go to market and were fertilized with record fertilizer prices and fuel prices. Big Ag has to cover their costs and that will happen on the grocery store shelves early fall.

Not only was the previous GDP negative 1.5% but it's anecdotal evidence like this that tells me we are already in a recession.

There is no other reason for inflation except what the government wants it to be.

Economics 101. The government controls inflation

Is this a fairy tale? Where do I sign up to pay for this 8.6% increase?
