It’s going to be streaming free online on their website. I’m definitely going to check out this first and see what it is like. If Nothing else just for the novelty of it

Of course and I'd put it at 95% chance that anyone that says no is lying.

I'll check it out since it will be on during the work day. I can have it on in the background. I'm interested in the shotgun start and if they'll be able to keep up with all of the shots.

I'm still confused how there will be a playoff at the end when teams are redrafted each tournament.

ETA: After reading their site, it looks like the 12 captains remain constant, but the teams they draft will change weekly. So, the last event will have seeds basically off of which captain was best at drafting.

Shotgun start is the dumbest idea ever.

Doubt it.

There's nobody playing that I just have to watch.

DJ is a great player. But to get him to smile is a huge thing.

I’m going to watch it. I watch the Euro tour in the morning too. Hell, I watch the Ladies when nothing else is on. What else is there? NBA? NHL? MLB? No thanks! Give me golf!

Is it? The idea of a whole day of the tournaments being done in five hours is kind of awesome, especially when everyone is going to be on the course at the same time

Is it on the Golf Channel or ESPN+? Otherwise it's DP World Tour then over to PGA on ESPN+ and will watch Champion, Korn Ferry, or LPGA, whichever is on Golf Channel.

It is. Golf TV coverage is hard enough with a staggered start because of all the possible angles and stories to follow. There is pretty much 0% chance they get the coverage right with all golfers on the course at the same time.

The entire format is novel, but it doesn't really change the viewing aspect. There isn't a concept in golf so novel as to get me to watch a bunch of average pro golfers.

In my opinion, yes. The fact that those battling for the lead aren’t finishing on the same holes will be more difficult to follow. You will also not know where they are on the golf course. It may say they are through 7 holes, but you don’t know which 7 holes have been played.

I just think the amount of money being given to even play will deter many from watching.

There's definitely pros and cons. The course not being played in the same order by everyone is a huge con. THE Second 9 at Augusta is part of the reason the tournament is so great.

But watching the last three groups play like shite while the guy we know is going to win sandwhiching in an arse load of commercials is brutal too. A shotgun start should fix that. Guys being blown out at sea can be dropped from coverage because everyone is on the golf course.

It’s crazy that people always express the need/want for more entertainment options and when one appears they bash and try to tear it down before it even begins. Not directed at you, OP, just a general observation I’ve made.

From a viewing aspect for the fans, playing a shotgun start is not ideal. Say 3-4 guys are neck and neck coming down the stretch but all at opposite ends of the golf course. Well, fans aren't going to be able to see all those guys come down the stretch if they're at the tournament. That also affects the TV audience because the gallery would be spread around the entire course rather than following the groups with the players leading the tournament that are generally clustered together by a few holes.

Not to mention most courses are designed to be played in order. Shotgun starts are suitable for amateur scrambles, not professional golf tournaments.

What golf fans have been complaining about not having enough options to entertain them? There's a golf tournament all but 1 week of the year. To me, this is just golf's version of the USFL of the 80s.

It very well may end up that way. Odds are against it being a successful tour. But why kill it before it has a chance?
