I have no problem with this arrest. Here's what I have a problem with...

Officer Donald Steele was arrested last August by this same agency for Second Degree Kidnapping, Malfeasance in Office and Sexual Battery. He faces up to 40 years in prison, yet there was no press conference, nor was there even a press release! Why you ask? Because Officer Steele is in the same fraternity as Chief Murphy Paul Deputy Chief Myron Daniels (Omega Psi Phi). It only made news because the victim's attorney notified the media.

To make matters more insulting, Officer Steele remains on paid administrative leave to this very day! He was even allowed to certify with his weapon at the range just two months ago so that he can keep receiving his $500/month state supplemental pay while he awaits trial!

But there's no unfair treatment at the BRPD, and it certainly isn't based upon race!!!!!

If it is that easy to fake evidence logs, how much money & drugs do you think are missing from the Baton Rouge evidence locker.

BRPD was in hot water 10-15 years ago for the same thing and was supposed to put better controls in place. Seems like a bunch of guns and 5 kilos of cocaine went missing in just one year but it had been going on at least since the mid 90’s. People called to inquire about recovering their stuff and when it couldn’t be found, they we’re told that it was sent to the state police/EBR or some other evidence room. The people would call the other evidence rooms who would then direct them back to the BRPD evidence room and basically get run in circles until they gave up. I heard rumors a rpg went missing out of there but I’m not sure if that’s true.

Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran told the WBRZ Investigative Unit Monday that former BRPD officer Benjamin Zeringue put the guns, which had been seized as evidence in BRPD cases, in the trash.

Let’s see what Murphy Paul has to say about this.

Does anyone really care what he has to say at this point? It will be the same bullshite "we are taking this very serious blah blah blah blah... Im just trying to say whatever I can to look as less stupid as possible"

Yes. Always good to have a weapon to drop next to a perp, if/when you have to use yours.

Murphy Paul:

"Here are our statistics that show we investigate Officers equally, regardless of race."

Every Police Officer who knows this is a play-on-words:

"Show us the statistics on the Officers that you DON'T investigate, because that's what we're accusing you of.

Why isn't a bigger deal made about this? I know the local news stations will not touch it because they don't want to be blackballed by the Mayor's office. And people wonder why people are not fans of the police.

You just answered your own question. In years past, the FBI would already be investigating.

eringue worked at BRPD from 2016 till June 2020 in uniform patrol. He resigned in 2020 after Daniels said there were some accountability issues.

“This was not the first issue with lost evidence,” said Daniels.

After his discipline for that incident, Daniels said Zeringue resigned shortly after.

From there, he went to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was employed from July 1, 2020 till he resigned on Nov. 29, 2021.

WFPSO Sheriff Brian Spillman said Zeringue resigned to take a job at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

He started at LPSO in Dec. 2021 until he resigned after this most recent investigation in April 2022. While at LSPO, Zeringue was assigned to the patrol division and he did not have any legal troubles during his employment.

This ain't his first donkey show.
