wonder what a vote, after appeals , would like like on coming back together… seems a few instances I’ve read about, albeit one side only, show some schools feel good about their appeal chances

Especially when they realize the Select playoff brackets are only 16 teams

Barbe only pulls kids from out of district due to minority majority and none of those kids play baseball. Hasn't helped much in football

Does this mean better competition? Less divisions/classes?

the Rapides Parish School Board is holding a special meeting today over this... considering every Rapides Parish school was changed from non-select to select with this motion passing

Sucks to be them.
If academics are more important than athletics, why are they meeting about this?

This. There are other reasons to have open enrollment besides trying to expand your football team’s area you draw from. They might put kids back in subpar schools for the sake of winning two or three more games

They were already pushing kids back anyway because they enacted open enrollment without planning for any facilities to be overpopulated. ASH is over physical capacity as we speak. That is the real reason for the $100 million bond that passed and ASH zone getting $10 million than the other 2, so they could build a new wing. Tioga is at the same point, at capacity.
They enacted a plan last year to stop accepting more at those sites and push overflow back to their originally zoned schools.

I think this was done to try and do away with the split. But, I think it just solidified more votes for the split.

Nonselect is in the minority now though

frick em.
This passed via vote of the membership, so they need to abide by it.
I bet the schools involved were involved with strong-arming the B and C schools to vote for the initial split too.

Doubt it. Most Rapides Parish schools usually abstain during LHSAA votes, ironically. Or at least that's the typical history unless something has changed.

It’s not going to stay this way. This will be overturned at the convention in January if not before.

Rapides schools voted 9-1 (with one abstaining) in 2013 in favor of the split.
Rapides schools voted 7-1 (with three abstaining) in 2016 to extend the split to basketball, baseball, and softball.
