I kept my first vehicle. 1994 two door k1500 has over 380k miles. Drove it in high school and college. Changed the transmission a few times and ac but that’s about it. Inside is still clean and just put a new paint on it.
Keep it covered at my step-fathers shop and he’s the only one that drives it now but I don’t think I’ll ever let that car go.

Damn dude, why don't you treat yourself to the new car next time?
A. I’m the one who insists on the way we handle vehicles so it is only fair to be the one to make the sacrifice imo. I could get myself a new vehicle today if I decided to change my mind but I’d rather save that money personally.
B. I don’t care what I’m driving as long as it gets me to work and back or the rare trip out of town alone. I’ve got nothing to prove to anyone except the people living under my roof.
C. I love my wife and kids and I’m happier knowing they are in the safest / most reliable vehicle we own the majority of the time they are in a vehicle. More happy than driving a newer vehicle would make me hands down.
I’m comfortable with my decisions

Thanks Wade. What’s pre-def?
DEF is diesel exhaust fluid. Does your truck take DEF? All modern diesels do, but I've heard that dodge was the last to comply.
DEF can cause some major problems down the line for diesel engines. It's one of the reasons we're seeing more big V8 engines in 3/4 ton trucks.

I'm only kidding. My wife drives the newest car in our family and I gave her the down payment.
Now she works from home and only drives it 2 or 3 times a week, go figure.

2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with a hemi. 286,000 miles. Replaced the motor at 275,000 miles. Still have the original transmission. At 71 years of age I don't want a big note anymore.

2008 GMC 2500hd Duramax. ~260k miles. Only real issue is leaks in the cab.

2006 Avalon. 118,000. Rides like a champ. Only 1 previous owner before me. He put on about 5,000 a year. I do that in 3 months now.

My FIL has a 2003 ram with the 5.7 hemi. 200k miles. The transmission is starting to fail, but he maintains his vehicles so well. I'll see if he'll sell to me when the transmission goes.

2004 Toyota 4-runner, 195K miles.
Full synthetic motor oil every 8-10K miles. Replaced the struts/shocks once, transmission fluid and rear differential fluid once, the battery 2 times, the tires 3 times, and one noisy L rear wheel bearing. Still drives great!

2005 Toyota Tundra DC - 202K miles. Just had tires replaced, and front brake job. Original owner and well maintained - I suspect it will last as long as I want to continue to drive it.

That’s awesome. Wonder if the newer 4runners will maintain that longevity.

I have had 3 vehicles that all went over 250,000.
1987 MB 560SEL
1997 Chevy suburban
2003 Ford Expedition
All had some work done when they got over 100,000 miles, but nothing too bad. Followed fluid change reccomdations and tune ups. Only used synthetic fluids.

Apparently, not, since I don’t know what it is.
It’s a hemi, twin turbo diesel. I really like it. It’s a good looking truck.

2015 Subaru Outback. Currently at 251,423 miles. Daily driver, commute about 210 miles a day.

I didn't know what DEF was until I drove a freightliner for the 1st time. Truck would tell you when it needed def if it actually used it.
