How LSU's new staff shook up the recruiting process for Tackett Curtis

quote:

When LSU Athletics Director Scott Woodward announced the hire of Brian Kelly as the football team’s new head coach, the former Notre Dame headman assembled a staff of on-field coaches and personnel that more or less wiped the entire slate clean from the Les Miles and Orgeron eras.

Now, the new-look football staff has settled in this offseason, and one of the top priorities on the recruiting trail has been the Top 100 prospect out of Many.

“We have been down this road a while now,” Many High head coach Jess Curtis, Tackett’s uncle, said of LSU’s push this offseason. “We have made some great relationships with the coaches, and they have done a great job. We want to make sure (Tackett) turns over every rock, and being from Louisiana, we had to check out LSU.”

On Friday, Curtis hopped in the car and made the three-hour drive to Baton Rouge. He was joined on the trip by his his father, his brother, his grandfather and his head coach.

By the time the unofficial visit wrapped up, the Tigers were suddenly squarely in contention for a prospect who once seemed destined to leave the state for college.

“There was definitely a flip in my mindset before and after the visit,” Curtis said. “I was like ‘Man, I’m so glad I went.’ I really enjoyed it.”

And that makes sense, I'm just giving an opinion, which I know will be a minority one. Message board meant for discussion. And again, I want the kid at LSU, I just don't get why he's being courted like a Perkins by OSU.
I've said a couple of times that I am not crazy about his hips.

He's more important to a defense than Perkins. Tackett is a freakish athlete He will run a teams defense and be a Luke Kuechly type MLB. Thats what they all see in his play. You get that kind of athletism, smarts, and physicality you get the best of the best knocking down your door.

Dude I’m sorry he is not a better athlete than Harold Perkins. And why compare him to Keuchly?

Am I the only one that doesn't think he's that great?

Not saying don't take him because he is "pretty good" and is a Louisiana guy with big Louisiana high school football connections, but I feel like there has been more recruiting hype around him than warranted.
Disagree.

You never pass on a thumper with room to grow at LB, especially Mike. And he very much seems to have the right instincts for a very instinctive position. The two together are extremely valuable. He'll the "defensive QB" somewhere... we sure could use that at LSU.

Having said that because of the competition it all needs to be verified with in-person (camps or other). But we're talking verification, not evaluation. Evaluation wise he checks most of the boxes.

All I'm going to say is if ya wanna see a good ballgame with tons of talent on the field. Then get your tickets early for sep. 23 @ many high
Many vs. Newman
Arch Manning vs. Tackett Curtis & all state DB tylen Singleton. Be ready for a pre game firework show like you've never seen before. This will be a good one for all the private vs public debaters. Many the best 2A public vs Newman quite possibly the best 2A in private.

The Many side has lots of talent

The Newman side has Arch and the young Bordelon. Randle is ok

St Charles and ND are better programs than Newman

Eh we will see if Many is the best 2A public. They should be the favorites but were last year too and didn’t win it. Newman is even less of a sure bet as the best 2A private. Let’s say possibly the 2 best teams in their respective classes/divisions lol
