We have 3 draft picks and 14 roster spots filled

In no particular order the pieces that could be moved include: Billy, Naji, Kira, Graham, Temple, and Hayes.
The obvious move would be Temple + 1-2 2nds for cap space. We would have 2 draft picks and a 15 man roster.
The next most obvious move would be Temple+ Graham.
It looks like our draft pick should be 1 of Ivey, Mathurin, Davis, or Daniels. We need Hayes right now unless a trade opportunity presents itself. Temple and maybe 1 of Graham/ Kira in the hot seat?
We definitely aren’t done yet.

1,000,000% chance that at least 1 of those 2nd round picks is sold for cash, maybe both.

Gonna sell those to pay for Stan

they’ll draft and sign a player at 8
both 2nds will be disposed of either for future picks or cash
moves at the deadline if they present themselves

You’re not getting Ivey - not a chance unless we trade up & I don’t see that happening.
You’re choosing from Griffin, Mathurin, Davis, & possibly a player who falls to you, but it won’t be Ivey.
Not to hijack the thread an all, but what’s wrong with Mark Williams, C from Duke?
He’s a 7-footer, has quick feet like a guard, and is a nasty rim protector & will funk on you if you’re not careful. His game reminds me of a Clint Capela but with more shiftiness.
I know we have Jonas but the center position and a true point guard are our needs. I know everyone says we take the best shooter, but we already have CJ, Ingram, and now Trey Murphy who I think could’ve won us an extra game in the playoffs had he played down the stretch.
Then you’ll bring back Zion, and if your first round pick in Kira Lewis works out, we could be absolutely SET.
Just sayin..
I could also see us trading back a ways..say to 13 where you can still grab your center in either Duren or Williams and add some draft capital as well.
Or you could just play it safe and draft Mathurin or Griffin and call it a day.
I cannot wait to see what this front office does with this pick.

I don’t think we trade both 2nds. We need another cheap backup PF/C. 9 backcourt 5 front court currently.
CJ/ Jose/ Kira
BI/ Graham/ Lotto
Herb/ Trey/ Naji
Zion/ Nance
Val/ Hayes/ Billy

That’s not a bad take. I’d like to see another big with promise drafted. It would give us flexibility with Hayes and take pressure off Valancunas.

You don't draft a need in the 2nd round, you take BPA and hope to God it pans out.
Or you draft and stash someone.

Center is not our position of need right now. I left out Sharpe on acccident. Ivey will probably be gone and it should be between Sharpe, Daniels, Davis, and Mathurin.

Trade Graham + Hayes to the Clippers for Luke Kennard.
We get a legit 2 who can score with the second unit. The Clips probably won't do that but they need a real PG and could use an athletic bigman.

It’s the only position where we really lack athleticism and youth - and I’m a Jonas fan. But you’re right, it gives you the flexibility you need when it comes to Hayes.
A team may get ancy and you could slide back to 12-13 and add a late to mid 1st round pick possibly.
Tons of opportunity with this pick.

I honestly don’t think Sharpe will be there either but if so, disregard my Williams comments - I’d take the upside in Sharpe at 8 without question.

If we draft and stash someone to Birmingham, can another team steal him? Or can another team steal undrafted players from Birmingham?

My interpretation of the rules is that undrafted Squadron players are free game for any of the 30 teams, but 2nd rounders would be “nba draft rights players” that we get to assign to Birmingham and keep their rights.

FYI, I believe Gary Clark cannot be signed as a 2 way player in 2022-2023 because it will be his 5th year in the league, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we keep a 2nd round pick and give them a 2 way contract.

We already know what's happening with the second rounders

I would imagine that ticket sales will be robust next season. And the team made money off the home postseason games.
I will be very surprised if we sell picks this year.
The options are:
- Package the two 2nds into one late 1st.
- Draft and stash
- Two-way contract
- A two-for-one trade that opens up a spot.
On that last note, you can take Billy and Naji out of the list. Billy is too valuable in the locker room -- Griff already said that he's untouchable. And Naji is a very good player for someone on a minimum contract, so there's zero reason to move him.
The trade would involve two of Graham, Temple, Kira, and Jaxson.

Dont over think this. Those two second-rounders are cash considerations.

draft and stash has to be overseas and the player has to agree to it. Two-way can be in Birmingham but again the player has to agree to it. Most 2nd round picks (at least in the 30-40 range) are looking for standard contracts, which the pels can’t do
they’ll trade/sell them both

No, foreign players don't have any say about whether they are stashed for a year or two. Didi Louzada, for example, had no option to play in the NBA, except for the Pelicans, because we owned his rights.
Now, it's true that we worked out a plan with Didi that put him in the NBL, and Didi didn't have to do that and could have just stayed in Brazil. But the drafted player does not have to agree to be stashed.
More generally, I simply do not understand your confidence that both 2nd round picks will be sold or traded. Would you elaborate as to your reasoning?
